About this ebook

Kyle Hanson is faced with the prospect of losing more of his family to the spirit who hunts him, and does what he does best: he runs. But he has only one place to go: back to The Raventree Society, and more ghosts.

When the show explores a forest protected by dead Civil War soldiers and a sinkhole inhabited by a violent child spirit, Kyle is forced to ask what types of risk he's willing to take, who he can to involve, and how Tyler's legacy will effect how he lives, or dies.

Kyle shoved his suitcase into the back of the new black jeep, wincing as his feet scuffed on the pavement of the parking lot.

This is probably the stupidest thing you’ve ever done. Hannah crossed her arms, her hair tucked under the fur ruff of her winter jacket.

No need to exaggerate. Kyle pulled his gloves off. You forget Indianapolis.

Oh no, I remember Indianapolis very well. If you remember correctly, I was the one signing all the paperwork to get you out of the hospital. This is still stupider.

Kyle sighed heavily and pulled open his car door. He didn’t have time to argue with her about this. She’d probably called his family, and Carl and Mom, or Josh, would be here at any moment. Then he’d have a much bigger argument to deal with.

Look, I didn’t actually ask your opinion.

Kyle, your family is going to want to help you through this. And I don’t understand how getting yourself killed is going to save them from anything. Doesn’t this thing move from one family member to another when they die?

I’m making a calculated risk. Kyle leaned on the roof of the car, taking in a chilled breath. The ghost needs energy to feed off. Well, let’s see it travel across the world without me.

So you are leaving the country?

This thing obviously can’t jump long distances. So if my family is up here, and I am somewhere else, and something happens… Something would happen. The bridge ghost was singular in its focus, and Tyler couldn’t save him every time. Eventually something would come that he wouldn’t be able to run from. Hell, that woman in the condo had a long time to kill him. She could have killed him in his sleep. The fact he’d survived was pure luck. He couldn’t hold it off forever.

You aren’t even going to say goodbye?

    Kyle shrugged. Why?

Hannah shook her head slowly, her face resonating with sorrow. You seem to think your family doesn’t care about you, but it’s a lie.

Yeah, well… What was there to say to that? How could he explain it to her? What if it went after Mom? Or Rebecca? What if the thing attached itself to JJ? He wasn’t even
