This episode is set in a real location. The William H. Waterhouse Residence Museum is a historical Victorian home in the Lake Lily Park in Maitland, Florida. While some reference is made to existing lore and existing objects within the home, the events in the book are entirely fictitious. Stella Waterhouse is a true historical figure with great historical influence on the city of Maitland whose spirit is rumored to still be haunting the Waterhouse Residence. Her ghost is included in the story. However, her involvement in these events is, like the story itself, fictitious and used with the utmost respect. As are the names and facts within the story.

I make no claim to be a historian or an expert on the residence. Much thanks to the Maitland Historical Society for the information they provided. Please go to the website for more information on the Waterhouse Residence Museum. https://artandhistory.org/waterhouse-residence-museum

    break

The phone rang. Kyle didn’t bother checking it. He didn’t need to. Josh’s name was sure as hell plastered over the screen, again. And if not Josh, one of the other family members.

They seemed to be taking turns getting on his ass, and so far he had managed to dodge them. He really needed to change them all to a matching ringtone. Something like Somebody Watching Me.

They had called every day, multiple times a day, but Hannah hadn’t called once.

    Check mate! Samuel roared.

This is Monopoly. Jenny’s voice drifted over the others.

    Fine then, you’re fired.

    That’s Trump.

    Home run.

    "Shut up.

Actually if you were going to… Philip’s voice was so timid it was hard to make out over the banter. Jenny and Samuel seemed to have fit in together pretty quickly.

Rory was driving, a pair of earbuds in, probably in an effort to drown out the newbies.

Hey. Kyle slipped through the open door separating the living area of the tour bus from the driver’s seat.

Rory gave him a brief smile and nod before turning her attention back on the road.

It was trips like this when Kyle missed having his own vehicle. The new crew members were still high on excitement and getting to know people. The atmosphere was similar to a summer camp cabin: loud, playful chatter one moment and arguments the next.

Kyle pulled one of the earbuds from Rory’s ear and plugged it into his own. It wasn’t actually music.

    What’s this?

    True Crime podcast, she answered.

Seriously? Cause true crime is exactly the kinda stuff you want to be filling your head with when you tour haunted houses for a living.

    I don’t scare easily.
