Introduction
This book was written to help you work through negative emotions and replace them with more positive ones. Life is taxing, stressful, complicated and discouraging for many, but it doesn't have to be. By learning to access our inner peace during calm moments, we can cultivate the ability to face every moment with calmness. The visualizations in this book are meant to be simple and inviting. You may not see instant results, but through daily practice you can open your heart to new experiences and understanding.
These visualizations can be used by anyone: athletes, students, surgeons, soldiers, laborers, singers, business professionals, yoga instructors, and homemakers. They can help improve focus and decision-making capacity. You can read them by yourself, pausing after each sentence to close your eyes and visualize what is being described, or you can ask someone to read them to you. Rather than rush through these visualizations, take time to fully experience them. I recommend starting with a few deep breaths prior to each visualization session, then resuming your natural breathing rhythm as you read or listen.
If you've never meditated before, this book offers a gentle introduction. You can sit upright or lie down. You can be on the floor or in a chair or bed. What's important is that you make a commitment to begin, then do what works for you.
I discovered meditation during a particularly stressful time in my life. At first, I didn't notice any positive results, so I stopped. However, after a few days without it, I felt my stress levels begin to rise. This motivated me to commit to a regular practice. Just ten minutes a day made a positive difference for me, and I'm confident it will make a positive difference for you.
The Perfect Day
Summary: This visualization encourages you to imagine a perfect day. It is left very open-ended, so each person can imagine the people, activities and environment that would be a part of their own personal perfect day. This simple visualization is intended to evoke feelings of peace, relaxation and happiness and is suitable for anyone.
Close your eyes and imagine a perfect day.
What enjoyable activities are you doing?
Who are you choosing to spend time with? What things are you talking about? Are you holding hands, hugging and kissing, or just enjoying each other's company?
Imagine how you are feeling while experiencing this perfect day. Picture the smile on your face.
Where are you? What is the weather like?
Pay attention to everything you are seeing around you. Is it sunny? Can you feel the warmth on your skin? Or is it raining?
Are there any
