Foreword
As a former staff nurse, I am acutely aware of the need to sleep and the difficulties we sometimes face when trying to get to sleep.
My former job meant that I had to work shifts, including night shifts, which made falling into a regular sleeping routine difficult. It also meant I had to find a way to be able to achieve adequate sleep in the daytime to be able to continue to work safely at night, and then be able to revert back to sleeping at night at the end of my night shifts. I can only liken it to being jet lagged, all of the time.

With so many tried and tested ideas, you are most certainly going to find a method that works for you here. So get reading, try out these techniques, and then sleep well!

When we achieve a ‘good night’s sleep’, we wake up in the morning feeling refreshed and ready for the day. And this in turn gives us a ‘feel good’ reaction, which can enhance and set the mood for the rest of the day. Similarly, lack of sleep can induce a fatigue and sluggishness that can stay with you for the entire day, and that is something we all want to avoid. Especially when it affects your ability to work, or interact with friends and family.
Achieving sufficient sleep makes our brain and
