About this ebook
Songs have been written about the pain of going through this; a lot of people could handle it, they spent many nights thinking about how to end it. I'm not talking about an emotional crisis or any other episode of grief. I'm talking about insomnia.
Insomnia is a type of sleep disorder that prevents a person from sleeping or falling asleep for a long time. Insomnia can affect anyone, in any age group. However, it has been observed that more adult women suffer from insomnia than their male counterparts. The scope of insomnia research covers a wide range of sleep disorders and is often divided into three types. Insomnia can lead to many other types of medical problems, such as obesity, poor performance, whether at work, at school or during personal activities. Your immune system is weakened and this leads to poor functioning. Insomnia can also lead to depression and anxiety. The reaction time to triggers and stimuli is also shortened. Insomniacs are also less vigilant. And due to the poor functioning and performance of their body, a person with insomnia has an increased risk and severity of long-term illnesses.
The three major kinds of insomnia are: acute insomnia, chronic insomnia, and transient insomnia.
Acute insomnia is the most common type of insomnia and can last from 3 weeks to 6 months. It is mainly caused by the persistent stress we usually experience at work, the death of a loved one, a sudden change in your daily routine, a new business or a new job. Acute insomnia should be managed as quickly as possible because it could lead to a chronic problem.
Chronic insomnia is a form of insomnia that lasts longer, usually months or years, and they often experience insomnia three times a week or more.
Most cases of this type of insomnia are caused by secondary causes meaning that this type of insomnia arise as a side effect of another problem. It can be caused by the medicine you are taking, an underlying medical condition, trouble sleeping, and certain substances that can cause a person to lose sleep frequently.
Transient insomnia doesn't completely rob you off sleep. This means that you have a disturbed sleep pattern or that you cannot sleep well for a while.
This is usually caused by sudden, unforeseen events, such as: an argument with your supervisor or loved one, upcoming exams, and a sudden trip.
This is linked to higher stress levels and the inability to worry all the time.
Insomnia treatment centers offer several options for treating insomnia. There are cases where insomnia manages itself when the underlying cause of the disease goes away. It is important that we can determine the exact cause of your insomnia before treatments could be determined. This book has various methods to deal with each problem and a lasting sleep solution to your sleeplessness.

DEDICATION
I dedicate this book to God Almighty the creator and initiator of sleep as a way of relaxation, growth and healing.
Background/Research
Studies show that around 1 to 3 people deal with at least a mild form of insomnia at some point in their lives. Insomnia is more prevalent in women more than men and older people more than younger ones. Young and middle-age African Americans also are at higher risk.
There are various causes of insomnia as studies have shown that depression, anxiety and anger can cause insomnia. The psychological effects are strong and strong enough to keep you from sleeping at night and keep you from falling asleep generally. But it can also be the other way around. For example, it is also possible that insomnia causes depression. Scientific results show that insomnia can minimize the release of endorphins and lead to depression and irritation. Depending on the duration of insomnia, the effects may continue to snow with the end result of chronic depression. This is further underscored by a study carried out in Norway, which is presented below.
An investigation was carried out by Dr. Dag Neckelmann from Haukeland University Hospital, Norway. The sample included 25,130 adults. Dr Neckelmann discovered significant links between chronic insomnia and the development of depression and anxiety disorders. Individuals living with chronic insomnia seem to be at a higher risk of developing depression or anxiety syndrome when compared to participants without chronic insomnia.
I have had several episodes where I struggle to get a good night's sleep, and these episodes could last from a few nights to a few weeks of sleep loss in some persons. However, I am generally more aware of the reasons for my inability to sleep and this has helped me resolve my lack of sleep earlier while giving me more control over my insomnia.
When we suffer from lack of deep sleep, the common term is insomnia. Insomnia is the inability to sleep well and can happen to anyone in their life and is one of the most common illnesses that people suffer from. There are three kinds of insomnia. 1. A person may have difficulty sleeping at first. 2. You may have moderate difficulty sleeping at first, but waking up at night. 3. Eventually, the person sleeps at night but wakes up too early in the morning.
All three types can be short lived or, if left untreated, become a habit - a false sleep pattern - that leads the individual to burn out. I was fortunate that my insomnia did not become a long term problem. Once a bad sleep habit is identified, it can be extremely difficult to overcome, but not impossible.
This book takes you through the various stages of sleep, causes of insomnia
