    Deep Feeling for Best friend

It was a happy day. Everyone around Patricia was in a good mood and the joy around them was almost palpable. She watched as friends a family gathered together discussing what a great wedding this was going to be. She'd made a lot of arrangements on her part and so hoped that it was true. However, Patricia didn't exactly feel the same way as they did. She was far from happy and every second she spent there was harder than the last. She wished she could somehow disappear. It wasn't how she was supposed to feel considering that it was her best friend's wedding. She should have been happy for him but the thought of him with that woman didn't sit well with her. She should have tried harder to stop him from making this mistake. She knew he wasn't happy with her and couldn't stomach the thought if her best friend being miserable for the rest of his life.

Patricia headed toward the bride's changing room. She had agreed to be her maid of honor only because Jamie had asked her. However, Patricia didn't care much for the woman. She would rather have jumped down a well than do this. She certainly didn't want to be next to her as she married Jamie her best friend and maybe the only man she was ever going to love. Despite all her feelings, she had promised Jamie that she would support him and she wouldn't go back on her words.

Not many people liked the bride though they would never have admitted it in public. As long as they were here they were going to put on their best plastic smiles and show support to the bride and groom. Patricia had walked in on so many conversations about how her and Jamie were supposed to be the ones getting married. Some older women had in fact said just as much to her face at the same time saying incredibly mean thin about Jamie's wife to be. She couldn't blame them because Claudia was a handful. If that was even her real name. She had a feeling that even the accent was fake though would have never mentioned that to Jamie.

From the very first time that they had met, it had become clear to Patricia that the girl only wanted Jamie for his money. She had done her duty as a friend and talked to Jamie about it. Patricia was more than surprised to learn that Jamie was already aware of his girlfriend's intentions. It didn't take a rocket scientist to discern that. With the way Claudia was using up his credit cards, there had to be no other explanation. Despite this he was still with her. Patricia had really tried to talk him out of it but you could never get an idea out of his head once he had it going. She had decided that she was going to let it play out slowly till he realized that he was making a mistake. That was until he showed up home with the news that he had proposed. She still couldn't get the image of Claudia's obnoxious face out of her mind as they had walked into her apartment together with their arms entwined. She had known instantly that he didn't want to do it. He was her best friend and she could always read from his face what he was thinking.

Claudia's spending only got worse. She felt entitled this time knowing she was going to be the future wife of the well-known Jamie Cooper. He however, didn't seem to give a damn what the girl did with his money. Jamie was from a very wealthy family so couldn't care less about what his girlfriend spent. Whatever she used up could always be recovered in a matter of minutes so it was nothing at all.

Patricia blamed herself for Jamie's behavior. He had started to date Claudia only two weeks after he had confessed his feeling to her after all. If she hadn't turned him down when he had asked her out, he wouldn't have felt the need to act like. She should have at least tried to do it better. Soften the blow so she wouldn't hurt him as much as she had though from how serious he was, she knew that the pain would have been the same no matter what she had done. Now there was a tension in their relationship and she had a feeling that it was going to be there for a very long time.

It wasn't even that Patricia didn't have the same feelings for Jamie that he claimed to have for her. If she were being honest with herself, she had loved him more than she should have loved her best friend for years now. She had no idea when it had happened. Maybe it was the time they first became friends but she had been too young to tell. Maybe it was even a few years later when they were both grown up. The bottom line was that it had happened and she had to deal with it as it became too strong for her to hide. She'd started to go out with other men to distract herself from what she felt about her best friend. She hooked him up with all kinds of women just so h would be unavailable. In spite of all the things she would try, it all became pointless at the end of the day. Her heard would still well when she saw him every day. She would still bask in his achievements as if they were her own and shower him with a lot of affection. He must have picked up on all of that. That must have been the reason he had persuade her. She had unintentionally but cruelly fooled him into thinking that they had a chance after all.

It must have been worse for Jamie. He had always been the more sensitive of the two. He had always been a dreamer believing in true love and destiny. All those things that Patricia could never be bothered to think about. With all she had been through, true love and destiny were a complete joke to her. That didn't mean that she had wanted Jamie to feel the same way. There was always something special about her friend having all these dreams. They made him who he was and it angered her that she had taken all those things always from him just like that.

Immediately Jamie realized he was in love with her, he'd told her. It shocked her that he thought that something could actually come from them being together. He'd taken her out for dinner that night at the most romantic place that he had ever seen. Patricia hadn't actually known that it was a date. She'd done things like that with Jamie lots of times. It was no wonder that people always thought they were a couple.

It had taken her by surprise when he'd started to proclaim his love for her. He wanted them to be together and wasn't afraid to admit it. Patricia had known she had feelings for him for much longer but could never be bothered to tell him. She had coldly turned him down. It had killed her that she did but she didn't think there was any other way. Patricia had her reasons. She had a feeling that dating would ruin their friendship. She'd dated a friend once and things hadn't exactly turned out rosy. She couldn't imagine her life without Jamie and if anything went wrong and they couldn't be together, it would kill her. She'd turned him down  hoping he'd understand. They just weren't meant to be together in that way. However, Jamie wasn't as understanding as she would have wanted him to be. He went and found Claudia and just wouldn't let her go. Two months after he'd met her, he'd proposed. She had no idea why he would act that way because of her. He'd expected some form of retaliation. That was how you knew that Jamie was just being Jamie. However, marriage hadn't been in her mind. Clearly she had overestimated his maturity.

Hey there Claudia, Patricia called out walking into the dressing room. Her smile though bright was fake. She'd never liked Claudia and knew that the young woman felt the same way.

    Hi Patricia, she called back.

Claudia was almost done getting dressed. Patricia had to admit to herself that the girl looked gorgeous no matter what she felt about her. She watched as the young goddess stayed still as everyone fussed over her. Her long black hair had been held in a tight ponytail and lots of pins paced inside to hold it in place. They'd used little make up on her that seemed to highlight her beautiful big brown eyes. She gone for a beautiful blush dress that complemented her caramel skin. Patricia felt a surge of jealousy course through her. She didn't think she had ever seen a woman as beautiful as Claudia. She could never even match up to that even if she wanted to. Not that Patricia herself wasn't beautiful. With her blonde hair always in messy curls and that tiny body of hers, she had that carefree girls look that a lot of men seemed to like about her. She was short but she could
