    Preface

It was doing the year of 2004 when the Lord dealt with me to write my first book.  From the time the Lord pricked my heart to start writing, many years have now expired, and I have finally finished Parts 1 and II of my first book series called A Rock Called Diamond.  You may ask Why did it take you so long to start and why now?  Let me take you back for a moment.  I knew from the time that God spoke to me to write my first book that it wouldn’t be easy.  Any time that God gives you anything it will always be bigger than what you can do. It is at this point that many will get discouraged and give up and even die with so many dreams and visions on the inside.  I know now that this overwhelming feeling is allowed by God so that only He can get the glory.

From the year of 2004 until now I have learned many lessons concerning life and why I had to go through great opposition in writing my first book.  When God gives you something, He first impregnates you with it. It is just like a woman carrying a baby, waiting for her pregnancy to become full term before the baby is born. It’s the same way with the dream or vision that God impregnates inside of you. It has to stay in you until it becomes full term before it is to be birthed.  But you can rest assure, that when the time comes for you to birth whatever God has planted in you, you will not rest until it is out of you just like the pregnant mom! For example: The pregnant mom has to go through much opposition such as: false pains (is it time yet), swellings (overwhelming feelings), restlessness (when will this be over), stretch marks (she is stretched out of the normal way of thinking), and more before the joy comes.  Such as it will be for you until the dream or vision that God has seeded in you is birthed forth.

Trust me.  Along the way after God speaks to you to fulfill whatever he puts in you. There will be many lessons to learn.

The first lesson I had to learn was perseverance.  The word perseverance means the action, condition, or an instance of persevering: steadfastness.  Persevere means to keep at something in spite of difficulties, opposition, or discouragement; persistent.  Remember, it’s so easy to get a dream or vision, but to carry it out is another thing.  Whenever you desire to do anything in life whether it’s to: (1) finish school (2) get a job (3) get married (4) have a baby (5) transfer (6) write a book (7) preach or teach (8) go to college or anything else, you must have a heart to persevere or to press on.

Paul understood this in the Bible when he said, I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus (Philippians 3:14). He knew that he had to persevere toward the goal in order to get the prize.  You see, starting is one thing, but finishing is always another.

Let me back up and talk about when I first began to write my first book.  The idea to write about my life story came to me years ago but I kept putting it aside, thinking that one day I’ll get to it.  You see, one day may never come until you get up and start.  There are many things God puts in us to do, but sadly, many of us may never
