About the Author
Introduction
Most doctors are good at treating acute illnesses but bad at preventing and treating chronic diseases. The fifteen leading causes of premature death—such as heart disease, cancer, hypertension, diabetes, Alzheimer's, Parkinson's, and others—can be prevented, treated, and possibly reversed if certain diet and lifestyle changes are followed.
Medications can help you with these conditions. For example, you can take cholesterol-lowering drugs to lower the risk of heart attacks; and blood-pressure-lowering drugs for hypertension. But these medications only treat the symptoms and not the underlying causes of the disease. And they also have dangerous side effects.
The good news is there is one unifying diet that may help prevent, treat, and even reverse these chronic conditions. The same diet that helps prevent heart disease also helps prevent type-2 diabetes and other causes of death on the list of chronic illnesses. Unlike drugs, a healthy diet can benefit all organs at once and treat the underlying causes of the disease with no adverse side effects.
This book explores the roles diets play in the prevention, treatment, and reversal of the fifteen leading causes of premature death. In this book, you will learn what foods to eat and what lifestyle changes to make to help prevent and treat these diseases.
