People die most commonly from disease, not old age. Disease that are preventable and mostly diet-related. And yet, nutrition is not emphasized in medical school. In fact, very few teach nutrition. For those who do, it accounts for very little of the student’s education. When they become medical professionals, they also do not stress diet and nutrition in treating their patient. Instead, genes mostly get the blame and drugs become the treatment. It’s as if everyone already accepted that sickness is just a part of old age.
That, however, does not need to be the case. Although the elderly may be prone to several diseases, it is not necessary that they suffer from it.
