Introduction
Stress is a normal a part of your life as breathing and eating. Whether you are rich or poor matters none. Only when stress takes over your everyday routine do you need to worry. Each of us experiences stress at some point in their lives.
A certain degree of stress can be beneficial, it’s only when levels go above the norm’ that we need to worry. In this book I will point your way to a less stressful life and how to take simple exercises and adopt certain techniques to help you enjoy your life.
I don’t promise I can solve all your life problems, but by looking at the cause and effects of stress, I do think it’s possible to get your life balance on a better footing and more readily recognize the things that can cause severe stress and discomfort - thus, to know them - is to avoid them !
What is Stress and What Does It Do ?
Flight or fight is the common terminology for what happens to humans when faced with certain situations. Stress is as natural a part of our make up as eating or breathing. Stress is, in simple terms, a natural biological response that can be traced back to the early caveman. Faced with the danger of a dangerous animal, you had two choices - ‘fight or flight’. This is an automatic reaction, as the brain senses such danger and sets up a process to assist the physical need.
Once these auto-impulse reactions kick in, the body goes into overdrive, adrenalin levels surge, the heart rate quickens as you take in more oxygen – at the same time, your reflexes speed up and your strength can be, in certain cases, almost super-human - you are ready to fight the wild animal. Time has moved on, and modern man is a far more sophisticated beast. So what happens in today’s world when all expected behavior patterns are telling you one thing, and your primeval reactions are telling you something completely
