About this ebook

When you are feeling stressed, try to take these important steps:

- Take note of how you are feeling and know when is problematic. Do not ignore the physical symptoms as these are the tell tale signs that it's going overboard. These include muscle tension, stiffness, headaches, insomnia among others.

- Identify the causes. Find out the causes and separate them in three groups, those that you can change the underlying situation, those that you need to change your attitude, and those that you need to accept. React to them appropriately.

- Review your lifestyle. Make sure that you are not taking up too much. Learn to off load by delegating, giving yourself enough time and learning to say No when you can. Give yourself time to relax and play. Observe and ensure that you engage in healthy habits.

Always look for professional help if you feel overburdened and have no idea where to begin. Asking for help is not admitting failure; it is acknowledging that there is a functional imbalance which you seek to reinstate. Visit your family doctor. Your doctor should be able to medically assess you and recommend suitable intervention.

There are voluntary organizations that can look into your issue and guide you on how to attain stress free life. However, you can visit a therapist specializing on Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and mindfulness based approaches which are known to help reduce stress.

Barbara Williams

Rev. Barbara Williams was born in Cleveland, Ohio.  The second of four daughters, she attended Catholic and public schools in Cleveland, and Colleges in Columbus, Ohio and Cleveland, Ohio, graduating from Case Western Reserve University’s Frances Payne Bolton School of Nursing with a BSN degree.  After working as a nurse, teacher, hairdresser, pharmaceutical salesperson, and respiratory therapist, Rev. Williams began to experience a sense of dissatisfaction, which led to a severe depression in 1980.  It was then that she heard of the Lord Jesus Christ, and gave her life to the Lord. Rev. Williams is an ordained minister who stands in the offices of prophet and teacher.  She teaches life in the spirit and supernatural living.  The healing gifts operate in her ministry and she teaches healing schools and miracle services in Cleveland, Toledo, and Sandusky OH as well as Detroit, MI.  President and founder of The Ministry of the Watchman International, she pastors two groups of watchmen in Cleveland and Detroit. Rev. Williams functions in a broad range of the prophet’s ministry.  As a songwriter and music producer, she produces the new sound of prophetic music and is known for the live music recordings done at her semiannual conferences held in Detroit.  She takes her message wherever the Lord leads and teaches in local churches, conferences, and workshops.  The Ministry of the Watchman’s weekly broadcast, “Strong Faith,” can be seen on television in Ohio, and Michigan. The revelation gifts of the Spirit and the teaching revelation gift both operate in her ministry.  She encourages believers to walk in the spirit, walk in authority over the powers of darkness, and walk worthy of their calling.  By impartation she activates gifts and empowers believers to do the work of the ministry, and to have signs following their work.  Rev. Williams's gift as an inspired writer has allowed her to publish and edit newsletters as well as teaching and prayer manuals. She has also authored over 15 books. Widowed in 2002, Rev. Williams was married to the late Aubrey D. Williams for 29 years.  Rev. Williams currently resides in Columbia Station, Ohio.

    Important Insight

    How do you define stress?

In brief, stress is a feeling of being under abnormal pressure, whether it is an increased workload, an argument with a family member, or financial worries. While stress affects everyone in one way or another, there are certain times and situations when pressure piles up and we need a little extra support to help us cope.

While research has shown that some stress can be positive, making us more alert and helping us perform better in certain situations, stress is only healthy if it is short-lived. Excessive or prolonged stress can lead to debilitating illnesses such as heart disease and mental health problems such as anxiety and depression.

In some instances, when life threatening experiences or unexpected occurrences cause you to shift from the norm, your body takes up a defense role by reacting with stress, altering your emotions and creating physical discomforts or symptoms called psychosomatic symptoms.

The simplest forms of psychosomatic symptoms include napping issues, sweltering and loss of hunger. These types of signs are caused by hurry of stress hormones in your body which when released enable you to deal with pressures or threats – otherwise known as the fight reaction.

The hormones, adrenaline and noradrenaline increases your blood pressure, increases your heart beat and rises the rate at which you perspire, preparing your body for an emergency response. They can also reduce blood flow to your skin and reduce your stomach activity, while cortisol, another
