The DASH effect diet is a diet designed to help reduce hypertension and lower blood pressure by providing a diet of clean, fresh foods with lots of color variety. By lowering your sodium intake, you can lower your blood pressure. It’s also known to lower your blood sugar which makes it great for diabetics. So what is the DASH effect? Well, DASH is an acronym for ‘Dietary Approaches to Stop Hypertension.’ With many Americans suffering from hypertension, having a healthy diet full of fresh, clean foods is something that everyone needs.
Since the DASH effect started, it has been making headlines. It is promoted by the National Heart, Lung and Blood Institute for hypertension and blood pressure. The USDA says that the DASH effect is the ideal plan for Americans, and the Kidney Foundation has endorsed it for people suffering from kidney disease. With endorsements like these, why is everyone not following the DASH effect diet plan? The true answer is that change is hard. But the DASH effect diet doesn’t have to be.
So what exactly is the DASH effect and how can you incorporate it into your life? Well, that is really quite easy. Since most of you are already eating the key foods in the DASH effect, it should not be much of a drastic change. I think the biggest change is the lower sodium intake. You see, in a normal American diet, we consume around 3,500mg of sodium per day. In the DASH effect diet plan, we want to lower our sodium intake. So why should we do that? Lowering our sodium intake to either 2,300mg per day or 1,500mg per day can make changes that will transform our health.
By lowering our sodium we can remedy our hypertension, also known as ‘blood pressure,’ and even reduce our systolic blood pressure. But that isn’t all, we can also reduce blood sugar levels, and it aids in preventing osteoporosis, cancer, stroke, and diabetes. The added reward is by reducing our
