Introduction

For all its powerful connotations, forbidden psychology is nothing more than the understanding of the workings of the human mind in a manner that benefits the individual. Its other important aspect has to do with protecting oneself against devious manipulations carried out by others with the intent of causing harm to that person.

Life, as everyone realizes, is rarely a bed of roses. On the contrary, it’s an ocean of struggle. Don’t get me wrong. I am not being poetic or pessimistic. Struggle for survival is the essential element of life. Only those who are fit to engage in this struggle are able to live life on the terms they prefer.

All the comfort and gloss of modern civilization is just a veneer that vanishes at the first hint of a threat to one’s survival. In this scenario, we revert to being the animals that we really are.

The aftermath of Hurricane Katrina in New Orleans in 2005 saw a total collapse of law and order. In scenes reminiscent of a civil war in a banana republic, and not the number one nation in the world, there was widespread and large-scale looting and violence, including murder and rape.

All the order and decency of daily life is the result of people having worked very hard to provide themselves and their families with a decent way of living. To get there, they have had to struggle against great odds over the centuries. However, it takes very little for this order to disappear into thin air, as the events in New Orleans fourteen years ago show.

The point is that people have to put in an effort to carve out a life worth living for themselves. They have to compete against others for the same resources, and this requires them to forge mutually beneficial alliances with other people. This helps them achieve their principal goal in life and prevent others from harming their interests.

The way that humans interact with each other forms the crux of the human experience.  Every human interaction has an element of one person either enhancing or lowering their ability to dominate or submit to the other.

An interaction always relies upon one’s ability to maneuver the way one positions oneself vis-à-vis the other person to achieve a favorable outcome. We tend to seek vulnerability within others yet not show ours to them.

It’s a complex emotional dance that people dance with each other and proving yourself the better dancer will always be a huge ask. That is where this book will help you step up to the plate and empower you to influence others to agree with your points of view, even while it helps you forestall attempts by others to dominate your thinking. If you view it strictly from a morality point of view, you might come to the conclusion that there is something ethically wrong with attempting to seed someone’s mind with thoughts that will make them see your point of view rather than their own.

However, if you analyze things carefully, it is basic human nature to behave like that. Only, one may not be very successful while trying. In fact, one might actually be in more danger of being psychologically manipulated by others than doing to that them.

So, it’s better that one acquaints oneself with the principles of forbidden psychology 101 to emerge victorious in the emotional tug of war we are engaged in with others - day in and day out.

Using forbidden psychology 101 gives you a strategic advantage in understanding the inner workings of the minds of others. That ability empowers you to devise the best tactics to approach people with the intention of getting them to do your bidding.
