The Art of Letting Go Devotional - Cassandra Durham
Dedication
THIS IS ONE OF THOSE it’s all God,
moments. God first gave me this book in 2016. What I did not realize at thee time was that I still had a few more tests, trials and tribulations to encounter before this testimony of The Art of Letting Go could be revealed.
I am grateful to my parents, my children, and my friends who listened to me talk about this book for hours on end while I ducked and dodged the actual writing of it.
This book is dedicated to all of those who are struggling with The Art of Letting Go of painful life challenges, unproductive relationships and stagnant careers. It is my prayer that after this journey you can break the strongholds in your life and walk in complete freedom.
Introduction
The only way this truly works is if you commit to spending time with God. Within these pages you will find scripture, a brief application and lastly a prayer. It is my belief these three things in partnership bring about first an awareness of issues. Then shows the reader how to walk out the scripture in their own lives. And then the prayer is used as a mechanism to open the lines of communication with God. Please feel free to add to each of the daily prayers. This is your moment in the presence of our Father, talk with Him, then listen for His direction on what to do next.
Take your time. You did not get here overnight. I believe the Spirit of the Lord will meet you in each of these pages. Trust Him. Allow Him to guide you even into uncomfortable truth. If you are willing to confront your issues and heal your inner turmoil you will embody The Art of Letting, Go. I cannot wait to hear your testimony- send them to me at cassdurham2012@gmail.com.
Hang on, it’s going to be a bumpy ride! Now let’s get started.
Day One
Psalms 139:14 (KJV) I will praise thee; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made: marvellous are thy works; and that my soul knoweth right well.
Imagine sitting at the potter’s wheel with your hands immersed in clay and water. Or imagine the sculptor working with stone, metals, ceramics, wood, or countless other materials to create the perfect image in his/her head. They spend countless hours lovingly shaping, molding, bending, stretching, and pulling until it is just right. It’s the same way with God. He fashioned you, molded you, and created you into the being He wanted you to be.
Fearfully in this regard, means to have respect and reverence. We respect and honor God for creating us. Consider Ephesians 1:4 (NLT) Even before He made the world, God loved us and chose us in Christ to be holy and without fault in His eyes. In other words, no matter where we’ve been, no matter what we’ve been through, God loves us. He knew before He created us the totality of our entire existence, and none of it stopped Him from the creative process.
You are fearfully and wonderfully made. You are unique, distinct, and different from anyone else. God still has a purpose and a plan for your life. There is a saying, broken crayons still color.
Yeah, you may have been beaten down, you may have even been broken but you still have purpose. Do not allow shame to overcloud the greatness God has for you. You are fearfully and wonderfully made. When the feelings and thoughts of shame try to cloud your thoughts, mood, and emotions, grab hold to the truth of being fearfully and wonderfully made by God.
Prayer:
Father, thank You that I am fearfully and wonderfully made. I am loved by You. I am forgiven, redeemed, and I am a new creation in You, Lord. Because of Your grace and Your mercy, shame has no place in my life. I am victorious and an overcomer. Lord, open my eyes to see my true worth and beauty. Protect me from the lies of the enemy coming to whisper in my ear. Lord, everything You have said about me is true, and today I choose to walk in total freedom. In Jesus name, amen.
Day Two
2 Corinthians 10:5 (NKJV) Casting down arguments
