DEDICATION

THIS BOOK IS FOR ALL women. Perhaps you’ve had a failed relationship, lost yourself while in a relationship, or you want to make better choices in your relationship. I hope this book gives you insight into self-love, healing, and connection with your inner self.

INTRODUCTION

IN TODAY’S WORLD, IT seems the notion that we need a relationship to define our path in life has become paramount, and if we are not in a relationship by a certain age or time period in our lives, we have missed the window for happiness. We may question whether something is wrong with us and why we don’t have that special someone in our lives. I don't know about you, but I enjoy my life right now, and I am enjoying the relationship I am building with myself. I have realized I don't need someone else to fulfill every single need and expectation I have in life. Now, I am not saying I don't have a partner because I do, and I am very happy and content in my romantic life just as I am happy and content as an individual. However, it took a couple of failed relationships along the way to help me realize that, before I could love anyone else, the relationship I really needed to work on was the relationship with myself. I wanted to love myself by doing things to strengthen my mental, emotional, and spiritual beings first, so I could share the best version of me with another person when the time was right. As I have come to learn, when you love yourself, you will realize you deserve the best, and you will begin to create your own definition of love.

I recently did a survey and asked both men (n = 25) and women (n = 50) to list the things they loved. I was surprised by some of their answers. Most women listed everything from their kids, to their family, husband/boyfriend, food, drinks, and sex. The men, on the other hand, listed their jobs, cars, family, and they all included themselves as someone they loved. Out of all the women surveyed, only one woman indicated that she loved herself.

In this book, we will explore the tenants of self-love. The foundation for any healthy relationship starts with self-love. Self-love is your secret weapon to living a fulfilling life. That is because your inner world creates your outer world. Self-love motivates you to make healthy choices in life. An interesting thing happens when you know who you are and you understand what is important to you as well as the value you bring to a relationship. Others realize it, too. They adjust their standards to meet your standards. We will also examine different relationship scenarios, consider their benefits, and compose notes.
