Introduction
Why do gorgeous, fresh, clean little babies smell sweet? Because, chemically, they are predominately composed of sweet smelling, alkaline, mineralized water, and their bodies are pH balanced. To be in optimum, youthful health, we need to aspire to keep our bodies in pH balance as well. pH Balance is critical to physical and mental health and well-being.
Chapter One: Food & pH Balance

What causes acidic imbalance in your body? Stress, anxiety, worry? Not only those factors, but also dietary habits and the environment all contribute to your pH balance – or imbalance.
Many health care practitioners and scientists around the world are in agreement that aging and disease are the direct result of the accumulation of acid waste products in the body. This belief is supported by scientific documentation.
Meats, sugar, white flour products, fried foods, soft drinks, processed foods, alcohol, dairy products, smoking, and drugs – all cause the body to become more acidic. Stress, whether mental or physical can lead to acid deposits in the body.
Our highly acidic dietary intake is fueling the plethora of diseases and emotional melt down we see on earth today.
We begin the twenty-first century with hope and fear, knowing we must figure out how to take action or suffer the consequences of not getting the full advantage in this amazing and wonderful life. Laying claim to a mindfully consumed diet is one of the most important steps toward this goal.
Why isn't food just as nutritious and life sustaining as it ever was? The short answer is because we have roared ahead with actions and behaviors that have had serious consequences. We have polluted our waters and air, and contaminated our soil, seemingly without realizing the results and outcome of our actions.
In this first chapter on food, we'll explore several avenues of concern, and then look at an action plan that will make you feel empowered, and, when put into action, will make you healthier. It's a win-win action plan, because just as you are caring and thoughtful of your body and your body's health, these same conscientious behaviors benefit the entire planet.

Your body is constantly working, 24-7 to maintain a delicate balance between acidity and alkalinity. Everything you take in moves toward one end or the other of the pH teeter-totter.
