Amorous Déjà Vu part 2 - J. Brinkley
Chapter One
Eight and a half months later Kim was laying on her Lazy Boy couch watching TV when Jason walked in the house. The street lights had just come on and the sun had set. Kim looked at Jason and smiled.
Hey, baby. How was work?
She asked.
It was alright, bae, but I’m glad to be home with my sweetheart,
Jason responded, while walking over to Kim, kissing her forehead and lips. He rubbed her belly. "How’s our son been? He asked, smiling.
He’s been bad. He’s been kicking like crazy today,
Kim said rubbing her stomach.
Aww, bae, he’s ready to enter into this world,
Jason said in a joking manner.
And I’m so ready for him to,
Kim responded. They both laughed.
I love you, Kim,
Jason uttered.
I love you more,
Kim assured.
Have you eaten anything?
Jason asked, while walking into the kitchen.
Truthfully, I’ve been eating like crazy,
Kim admitted and giggled.
I bet you have,
Jason replied, then opened the refrigerator and grabbed a bag of Tilapia. Jason cooked Parmesan crusted Tilapia fillets with brown rice and mixed vegetables.
Do you want a plate, baby?
Jason yelled.
No, sweetie, I’m good,
Kim replied.
Alright,
he responded.
Jason fixed himself a plate and poured a glass of sweet lemon tea. He walked into the living room where Kim was sitting and sat next to her. Kim turned the TV off and stared at Jason, smiling from ear to ear.
What’s on your mind, baby?
Jason asked while taking a bite.
I want to taste it,
Kim said.
But you said you didn’t want any,
he cried.
I changed my mind. It looks good and smells good,
Kim teased him.
So, you just gone take my little plate?
Jason asked jokingly, then fed her a piece of tilapia and brown rice, with mixed vegetables.
She chewed slowly as if she was trying to taste all the ingredients. I can’t lie, this is really good. Will you fix me a plate, baby?
Kim said, laughing.
Sure. Woman, you are a mess,
Jason said, shaking his head.
He put his plate on the table and walked to the kitchen to fix Kim a plate. When he made it back with her plate, she was sitting up eating his plate.
Kim, really?
Jason whined.
Baby, what?
Kim pretended to not understand.
Nothing, bully.
They both laughed. After they ate, Jason collected the dishes, took them to the kitchen and washed them. He returned to the living room where he sat on the couch with Kim.
Kim placed her feet on his lap. Baby, my feet are a little swollen and they hurt a little.
Aww, poor baby,
Jason said, then he began to massage one foot at a time. Does this make them feel better?
He asked.
Yes, yes, yes... a whole lot better,
Kim agreed.
Good. So, have you thought about a name for the baby yet?
He asked.
Not yet. I really wanted you to name him. How about Jason Graham, Jr.?
Kim suggested.
Jason took a break from massaging her feet and rubbed his chin. Sounds good to me,
he agreed.
So, how do you feel about becoming a father?
Kim asked.
I’m excited. This is something I’ve always wanted. I’m gonna do my part to be the best father I can be,
Jason responded.
I know you will,
Kim said, stretching her arm out towards him.
He placed his hand into hers and they held each other’s hands tightly.
We are in this together,
Jason said, then reached over to kiss Kim passionately.
He walked Kim to the bedroom then he took a shower and crawled into bed with her. Kim was on the phone with Alexis, who was at Shawn’s house. She and Alexis talked for a few more minutes, then got off the phone.
Kim snuggled up in Jason’s arms and went to sleep with a smile on her face. She felt loved and secure, her dreams were finally coming to life.
The next morning appeared quickly. It was sunny outside. Kim woke up to a soft, wet and warm kiss on her cheek from Jason. She opened her eyes and smiled.
Jason informed her that he was about to prepare breakfast. Then he walked out of the room while Kim continued to lay in bed for a few more minutes, then she got up and went to the restroom.
Jason prepared an old southern traditional breakfast; grits, eggs, sausages, toast and apple juice. They sat at the table and ate while they shared small talk.
After every other bite, Kim would rub her head as if she was hot and Jason began to worry a little.
Baby, are you alright?
Jason asked, concerned.
Yes, honey,
Kim replied.
You sure? I notice you seem a little nauseated,
he inquired.
Well, I am a little. I feel hot and my stomach is hurting,
she admitted.
Baby, we need to go to the hospital and get you checked out,
he said in a concerned manner.
No, baby, I’ll be fine.
Kim! No, we’re going to the hospital. We can never be too safe. If everything is good, we will just come back home,
Jason insisted.
Ok, ok. I’ll go,
Kim finally agreed.
She stood up slowly and Jason rushed over beside her to assist her with each step. He grabbed the car keys that hung next to the door and they exited the house. Jason opened the door for Kim and she got in as he ran to the driver’s side and got in. Once inside the car, he took out his cellphone and called Alexis to let her know what was going on with her mother.
What hospital are you taking her to?
Alexis asked Jason, concerned about her mother’s condition.
We’re headed to Tift General,
he informed her.
Ok, I’ll get Shawn and we’ll meet you there,
Alexis replied.
Ok, cool,
Jason said, disconnecting the call and placing the phone back in his pocket. He then pulled out of the driveway and proceeded to drive to the hospital as fast as he could.
Once they arrived they made their way to the receptionist’s desk and checked Kim in. It wasn’t long before a doctor came into the waiting room to get her. By this time, Kim’s pains had grown significantly more intense and they were closer together.
Jason was told to remain in the waiting room so he sat back in his chair for a minute before he closed his eyes. He prayed to God in his mind and heart, asking God to watch over his family.
By the time Jason opened his eyes again, he saw a nurse coming through the double doors into the waiting room.
Mr. Graham,
the nurse said.
Yes,
Jason answered, glancing at her name tag that read Nurse Tucker.
Your wife is ok, but she just went into labor. Would you like to be present or wait here until the delivery is over?
Nurse Tucker asked.
Jason debated. Yes, I’ll go in,
he replied.
Great, follow me,
Nurse Tucker said, as she turned and walked off.
Jason tailed her until they reached Kim’s room. Nurse Tucker informed Jason and Kim that she was attempting to reach her regular doctor, but so far had been unsuccessful.
Not to worry, though, Dr. Mitchell is more than capable of delivering your little bundle of joy.
Just then Kim felt another contraction.
Mrs. Graham, do you want me to give you something for the pain?
Nurse Tucker asked.
No, I want to deliver my baby naturally, with no medications what so ever. I don’t want harmful drugs endangering my baby,
Kim replied.
We’ll only give you a mild epidural to ease your discomfort. I assure you, it will not cause any harm to your baby,
Nurse Tucker reassured Kim.
No, I don’t think I want it,
Kim said, adamantly.
Well, just let me know if you change your mind,
Nurse Tucker responded. Keep in mind that if you wait until you’re almost ready to deliver, we won’t be able to administer anything for pain.
Ok,
Kim said. I’ll be fine.
Ok, then, just relax as best you can and I’ll be back in to check on you in a few minutes.
Thank you,
Jason and Kim replied in unison.
Baby, are you sure you don’t want anything for the pain?
Jason asked, concerned.
I’m sure, baby. I’ll be fine.
Can I get you anything?
Jason inquired.
No, sweetheart, you being here beside me, holding my hand is all I need. I can’t wait to lay eyes on our son,
Kim said excitedly.
Me too, baby. Me too,
he replied.
Just then Kim had another contraction, this time extremely painful. The contractions were becoming fiercely painful and very close together. Jason began to feel anxious and very concerned for his wife and unborn child, he worried that something might be wrong.
Nurse Tucker re-entered the room to check on Kim at that moment.
Nurse Tucker, my wife is in a lot of intense pain. This cannot be good. Is she ok?
Jason asked with a worried expression on his face.
I’ll examine her to see how things are coming along, but don’t be alarmed Mr. Graham, this is all perfectly normal,
Nurse Tucker reassured him. She then
