Watching my boyfriend, Simon, 32, poke and prod his chin, I could tell it was beginning to bother him again.
‘This is starting to get annoying now,’ he complained.
‘Is your chin numb again?’ I asked him.
‘The doctor said all that should have stopped by now.’
It was an icy December day in 2017 and Simon had been experiencing random pains and aches in his face for months.
One day it was a toothache, the next his chin was completely numb - the list was endless.
‘Come on, let’s go back to A&E,’ I said, grabbing my car keys. ‘That won’t help with anything,’ he mumbled, downcast.
He wasn’t wrong - we’d tried the hospital, his GP, and even the dentist - no one had been able to give
