About this ebook

I would like to share my thoughts, my feelings about God’s plan for Jamel. There is not a day that goes by that I don’t think of Jamel. The attorney really told me what happened that night. Jamel and Marlo just got off from work, and Marlo’s aunt’s boyfriend came to pick Marlo up to pick up his kids from his aunt’s house, to take them to his wife’s house, who he is separated from. Jamel wanted to go just for the ride. They picked up the kids and headed back to Woodstock to drop the kids and Jamel off. Reginald missed the turn-off and decided to stop on the highway and back up to go through the little intersection. A four-wheel drive came around and hit the right side of the car, and there was a U-Haul truck following it and ran into the back of the car, where Jamel, and Marlo’s two kids were.

God blessed where it was so quiet. The nurse said Jamel didn’t feel a thing. His neck was broken first, where he couldn’t feel anything from the neck down, whereas his chest was crushed, starting from the back to the front. Marlo said somebody said Jamel was still alive when they were trying to get him out. After they did, Jamel died. The doctor said, in his report, Jamel died quietly. He felt nothing. I sometimes think of this, but when I do, this is what the Lord lets me see. I see Jamel in this accident, but two angels were right there waiting and took Jamel by his two hands, and they all flew away together, up to heaven. Now, when I think of Jamel, I see him with a glorified body, happy. And when I pray, God reminds me that Jamel is okay.

To my son, Jamel Raheem King

    Acknowledgments

Iwould like to thank my God, Jesus Christ, who took Jamel on June 25, 2003. Blessed him with eternal life, and never forgotten him in his times of pain and suffering.

I thank God for my mom, who inspired me to press on and write this book. Special thanks to Rev. Dolores C. C. M. McWilliams, for her encouragement and help with the writing of my book, making it reality.

    Chapter 1

In 1980, the nurse rolled me from the recovery room, into the hallway, next to the nursery, at Maryland General Hospital. I asked the nurse, Can I see my baby again? The nurse brought my baby to me.

I looked at Jamel and kissed his foot, the nurse said, We will bring him to you later, and you can hold him longer.

The next morning, two doctors and a nurse brought Jamel into my room. One of them said, Miss King, I’m here to inform you, your baby is a little person. It seemed he couldn’t tell me just how tall Jamel would grow, so he held up his hand to various heights, saying, He may grow to be this tall, no, this tall. Then he asked, What is your baby’s name?

    I said, Jamel.

He went on to explain, He has short limbs and curvative of the spine. He need to see a specialist. I’ll give you the doctor’s name and number before you leave so that you can set up an appointment with him. You are being discharged tomorrow. He was a very pleasant doctor.

After the doctor left, I picked up Jamel out of the bassinet and pulled back its blankets to examine him, trying to understand what the doctor was talking
