St. Patrick’s Day 2: The Story Continues
Author

Andrew Gonzalez

Ever since the age of thirteen I always wanted to write. That was one of my biggest dreams and after ten years of waiting it’s finally coming true. I have to say I did have doubts about this dream and I thought for sure it was never going to happen, but with iUniverse I was completely proved wrong. I started writing short stories when I was eighteen. That was the age I really started to get serious about writing. Then St. Patrick’s Day came along and it has to be one of the best things I’ve ever wrote. I’ve always been into horror and my favorite author would have to be Stephen King and one day I hope to be just like him. I was born May 19th 1987, and I was raised in Pontiac, MI. My name is Andrew Gonzalez and I have a wonderful mother, father, and brother. Who go by Tammy Gonzalez, Alberto Gonzalez Jr. and Alberto Anthony Gonzalez the 3rd. I love them more than anything and there’s nothing I wouldn’t do for them. I love them with my whole heart and they always come first in my life. This book does not only go out to my mother father and brother but to my whole family, this is for all of you. Incuding my reader’s cause now you’re a part of my life and I consider you as my family now. Andrew Gonzalez

    DOUG IS DEAD

Well, that was quite a story. I can understand why it’s hard for you to open up. How about we get something to eat?

Sure, Kyle, but my hideous story is not yet over. That’s only half of what I have to tell you.

Are you serious? Jimmy didn’t die from that bullet?

Unfortunately, Mr. Mason’s bullet put Jimmy in a coma for five years. At the time, I knew he wasn’t dead. In my mind, I always sensed he was something more than human, but I also knew that couldn’t be true.

You thought he was immortal? Like a Freddy, Jason, or Michael?

It was just a theory, but this is actual life. Jimmy is human, and he can die just like anyone else.

Let’s go get something to eat, and you can tell me the rest of the story.

    * * *

Good afternoon, gentlemen! Two today? Table or booth? said the hostess at Applebee’s.

    Booth, please, replied Kyle.

    Right this way, please.

Just so you know, Jacob, I’m paying for lunch.

No, Kyle. You don’t have to. I can pay my own way.

Not another word. I’m paying for this meal, and that’s final.

Okay, gentlemen, here we go, said the hostess. Your waitress will be Tiffany, and she will be with you shortly.

    Thank you, Jacob replied.

While we’re waiting for Tiffany, how about you tell me what happened next with everyone and Jimmy?

Well, to continue, after Mr. Mason shot Jimmy, he immediately called the paramedics.

    * * *

Hello! This is Sheriff Mason. I need an ambulance at 1612 West Oak Drive ASAP. My two boys have been attacked.

Right away, Sheriff Mason, said the policewoman on the other end of the line.

Hang on, Doug. You’re gonna make it, Sheriff Mason said. Jacob, how are you holding up?

Don’t worry about me. I’ll be all right, I replied while looking at Doug’s potentially fatal wounds.

The paramedics got to the house within ten minutes. Gazing at the stab wounds, Mr. Mason and I knew Doug had about a 5 percent chance of survival.

As soon as the paramedics arrived at our address, they helped Doug and me onto gurneys and rolled us into separate ambulances. I suggested Mr. Mason ride with Doug, which he did.

We arrived at St. John’s Hospital in less than ten minutes. After the two ambulances came to a complete stop, the paramedics rolled Doug and me out of the trucks and rushed us to the emergency room. To my surprise, the stab wound in my back wasn’t as intense as I’d thought. But I knew Doug was in terrible agony.

My time in the operating room was no longer than two hours. When I awoke, Mr. Mason was escorted to the room where I would stay for the night. He fought as hard as he could to stay with his son.

Dad, Doug is going to be fine.

Jacob, please don’t talk. You just got out of surgery. You need your rest.

Mr. Mason, may I speak to you for a moment, please? said Dr. Rogers, who was at the time taking care of Doug’s procedure.

Mr. Mason walked out of the room and joined Dr. Rogers. By the look on the physician’s face, he had bad news.

Well, Doc, what’s the word? My son is going to make it, right? Please tell me he will, Mr. Mason said with an anxious tone.

I’m truly sorry, Mr. Mason, but we lost him in the middle of his procedure. He lost so much blood, and there was nothing we could do for him.

Overhearing the conversation, I couldn’t believe my ears. Douglas had been more than a friend; he had been a brother, and I felt his death was my fault. I felt I was the reason all my friends were dead.

I couldn’t help but witness Mr. Mason’s reaction to the disturbing news. He was not only in tears but also screaming and punching the wall.

Take me to him right now!

Mr. Mason, I really don’t think—

Mr. Mason grabbed Dr. Rogers by the collar of his scrubs, pushed him against the wall,
