"You know I’m not doing anything tonight and you are supposed to have a date," Amber replied.

Yeah, well about that, Rob began.

Don’t tell me, Amber laughed. Another one crapped out on you.

Well, in a manner of speaking, yes, he said. So stop laughing and tell me you’ll have dinner with me tonight. I made reservations at that new steakhouse and don’t want to go by myself. You know how that looks.

Amber had to keep laughing. Poor Rob was like the best guy in the world. He was smart, funny, gorgeous, and never had any trouble hooking up with some of the hottest women she had ever seen.
