    From the Editor

Welcome, readers, to the January issue of Spaceports & Spidersilk. Here you will find ten tales, in prose and poem form.

One is for a (b)lizard, a storm of icy white,

Two is for two children confronting alien plight,

Three is for umbrellas to stem the raindrops’ flow,

Four's a cave of monsters, just seeking room to grow,

Five's a tempting book page that glimmers in the dark,

Six legs are what each ant has - don’t crush them for a lark,

Seven's one small dragon, beloved and bejewelled,

Eight’s a rite of passage -- brave wing beats as the tool,

Nine is for new flavors no human can achieve,

And ten's a flow of teardrops, when no one will believe.

If, in these pieces, you find things that make you laugh, cry, and think, then we as writers and editors are doing our jobs.

    Enjoy!

    (B)lizard

    by Pamela Love

Though some say it’s a blizzard,

    What stalked in last night

    Is a dazzling, wintry lizard

    With scales of blinding white.

You think you feel a gust of wind?

    That’s when its tail flicks.

    Snowflakes slipping down your skin?

That’s how its forked tongue licks.

Still not sure? Well, here’s more proof—

    Look at your house’s eaves.

Those icicles that grip the roof?

    Look twice—they’re teeth—you must believe!
