    From the Editor

Welcome, readers, to the January 2017 issue of Spaceports & Spidersilk. I am writing this "editorial during the cold holiday season, and between bouts of editing, writing, and teaching I have spent the last few weeks trying to decorate.

I am not very good at decorating. I am not crafty, nor am I visually oriented. As my grandmother used to say, Marcie, your taste is all in your mouth. Of course, most of her wise (and mocking) sayings originated in various other languages, and something might have been lost in translation.

Still, there is one holiday decorating craft that I learned when I was very young, and I tend to make use of it every winter.

I can cut out a really good snowflake.

I love to take pure white paper and fold and cut it into a perfect square, then fold again, and again, and again, and cut, till I’m left with a star, then cut, and turn, and cut and cut and cut... until a snowflake
