The joy of Boxing Day

The handset slid almost silently into place, the phone fell quiet. I raised my eyebrows and looked at my friend. At last I heard those three magical words: “Bring your gun.”

It was a convincing point to make and I offered no protest.

It was 26 December, 2017, and a visit to the Flatlands was in full flow. We had already had a good day before and were planning to have an armed ramble later on as our own Boxing Day shoot, which would actually take place on 27 December. This shoot, the subject of the phone call, was the reason for the day’s delay.

I feel fairly sure that many will be able to relate to the problem presented by a visit to friends for a few days and some shooting.
