Crystal Dawn

When she’s not out hunting rogue vampires and werewolves, you can find Crystal Dawn out exploring the galaxy. She can do it all without ever leaving her computer. She kicks ass, takes names, and puts it all down for the enjoyment of her readers. At least that’s what I think she told me. Writing came as a natural outlet for her overly creative mind. She has always told stories and even written some but publishing books didn't start until 2012 with The Rebirth, was the first of the Planet Amazon books. Crystal has also been lucky to have some wonderful beta readers who keep her on track and help inspire her.Secretly, she crushes on all her sexy heroes because all her stories end happily. That is one of the things that makes writing such a joy. Knowing that it makes her reader's day a little brighter. Not that she doesn't read sad books sometimes. While still in school, she read Where the Red Fern Grows and cried like a baby. It was a wonderful book and sometimes a bit of sadness has to be put in books because that's part of life. While she reads all kinds of books at some time or another, PNR and SFR, which she writes is what she reads the most for pleasure. When she started writing, she decided on going Indie after the first two books because an author has more control. She believes Indie will compete well and continues to grow. The need to give pleasure to her readers keeps her going and she sees a long career ahead. Growing up mostly in the NW Arkansas area, it has given her a good place to set some stories and many of her characters come from there or nearby SW Missouri. The start of her stories is the easy part. Finishing them is a little harder when all the stories are in there trying to get out. She loves reading, chocolate, fine sweet wine, and traveling among a large list of pursuits. Her favorite people, after her family and close friends, are her readers who she says are some of the most wonderful people in this galaxy and the next.

    Pegasus in Peril

Janel had thought she’d found her one and only, but he’d left without a backwards look. She tried to date, but he was the only one on her mind. For now, she would pour everything into her job and eventually things would settle.

    Vampire Vengeance

A Zodiac Shifters Paranormal Romance: Scorpio

His fault, he supposed since he’d arrived after she had. Now he needed to get back her regard and claim her as a mate while they chased a vampire set on vengeance against his whole race. Easy, right?

Gertie Worthington wanted to be anywhere but here. Oh, it had been amusing at first. Darby had ended up on the wrong side of everything. Now it was so bad she felt sorry for him. That wasn’t good and he might use that to his advantage. All she wanted to do was go home.

    Preface

    The thing about Sagittarious…

Sagittarius: This is the ninth sign of the Zodiac. The sign is represented by the archer or the centaur. It is a sun sign and has high energy. Sagittarius is a fire sign and Jupiter rules them. Jupiter is the planet of luck and expansion.

Those who were born under this sign tend to be positive as well as uplifting to others. They are curious and love to learn. Those born under this sign are happiest when chasing big goals with plenty of excitement and adventure. Full of energy, they sometimes don’t complete projects because they take on too many tasks.

Another fault might be excessive bluntness. They have been known to hurt the feelings of others because of this. Friends can be lost if diplomacy isn’t learned. While extremely open-minded having friends from all places and types, they don’t have the patience for the daily support some friends need. Especially those that won’t take their wise advice right away.

Under the right circumstances, Sagittarius can be vastly entertaining. They have insights into the strangeness of human nature and see the humor in it.

    Prologue

Daphne had met Jespers and she thought he might be the one. Sure, she’d thought a unicorn was her mate, but maybe she was wrong. There had been so much about him that had called to her that it must be him. But now she had her doubts. It wasn’t like she’d had a mate before.

He seemed not to believe so she needed to move on, but it was so hard to. Maybe she should ask to go back home? That way she wouldn’t have to see him every day. That probably wouldn’t bother him at all and all he’d miss was the meals she cooked. That wasn’t even why she’d been sent here. Of course, it wasn’t to find a mate either.

Was she wrong about Jespers or had the old witch been wrong in her conclusions? Daphne wondered if she would ever know for sure. All that she was sure about is he thought she was crazy, and she needed some distance from him either physically or emotionally.

    Chapter 1

    Daphne’s Point of View

Several months have passed since Daphne first came here to train and join her cousins. Pru and Herk had been joined nearly a year and already had baby. Even Janel and Julio had gotten busy, and their baby had been born recently. She was happy for her cousins, really, she was. It was just she had always been the one that wanted her mate and now she was the last one in their group left single. That hurt.

    Hey Jespers! Darby called out.

Oh, goddess why did he have to call him over here? She looked to see him come near.

What smells so good? Jespers asked.

Daphne made some gooseberry pies. You should have a piece. Darby suggested.

Why was it that he only seemed to care about the food she cooked? What did she care anyway? It wasn’t like he was a unicorn and she had always known her mate would be a unicorn. That wasn’t crazy. Many witches had mating dreams, but most ignored them. Fated mates were rarely found even with the help of dreams.

What’s going on here? Julio asked.

Daphne baked several gooseberry pies. Darby said. You should grab a piece and take one to your mate.

Janel loves these pies. Thank you, Daphne, for fixing them. Our females love everything you cook but these are a rare treat. Julio grinned at her.

She liked all the guys except for Jespers. Her relationship with him was different. If only he was a unicorn. If she thought about it hard, she realized she had no idea what he was. None of his group ever admitted to what they were. There was no betraying smoke like a dragon, hint of wings when excited like a Pegasus, scent of magic like witches and other magical folk, or an attachment to water like merfolk.

Jespers was irritable enough to be a troll or aggravated enough to be a werewolf. But no other signs of those types was on him. She suspected her cousins all knew. She might be the only one that didn’t know. Once the word was out, the pies disappeared quickly. That was alright because she loved to cook and make people happy.

Pulling the last piece out of the oven, she sat down with a glass of milk and enjoyed herself. It hadn’t taken long to learn to hide a serving for herself. Someone would always take the last piece on the plate without a thought.

Jespers was still nearby looking at her from time to time. Of all the males here why did she have to feel drawn to him? It just wasn’t fair. Once she was done eating her piece of pie, she disappeared. There was Pru. Maybe she had an idea about what was going on?

Pru, let’s go somewhere private. She pleaded.

Sure, Daphne. Hey, that gooseberry pie was spectacular. I gobbled it up in seconds and looked for more. Herk said that was all you’d made. She accused.

Gooseberries are hard to get. Maybe you girls should be getting me supplies if you want me to cook you things. She snapped.

Ouch! Sorry, that I upset you. Now tell me what the real problem is? Pru asked.

Everyone keeps pushing Jespers at me. Darby’s the worst, and Jespers doesn’t like me. She admitted.

That’s not true. He doesn’t like hunters. Not unicorn, vampire, or dragon hunters. In his opinion they are insanely fixated. Pru explained.

But there is a reason I’m a hunter. You know that. She said.

I do, but you told me not to tell anyone. Jespers and the others don’t know. Most people believe mate hunters that chase certain types are crazy. A good laugh is all they have for them. You know that as much as I do. Pru stated.

Yeah, she did know that. Why would she think he was different, yet she had. Maybe she was crazy. Since he wasn’t a unicorn, he couldn’t be her mate anyway. When do we will do the next mission? She asked.

Pru looked at her wristwatch. In two hours. Didn’t Herk or one of the guys tell you?

No, they are too busy eating. She admitted.

Maybe you should relax or take a nap until then? Pru asked.

As if I could. Daphne felt energy rushing through her. Sleep? No way.

Okay. I’ll see you then. Pru said. She hurried away probably to the nursery where all the children were kept. It was the most protected area of their headquarters.

For now, she would go to her room and change into something more appropriate for the mission. She was learning a lot about spells that she could fight with and even adding some fighting moves. Pru was a good fighter and had given her some training.

The bad part was they always teamed her up with Jespers. He never seemed happy with anything she did. Now she would have to go through it with him again. She pulled her new leather outfit out of the closet. The guys would probably tease her about it.

There was a tight pair of black pants, black leather boots, a black long-sleeved T-shirt, and a black leather vest. She also had a black leather jacket, but it was too hot to wear that. Once it was all on, she thought she looked good. Now she armed herself with several knives and a couple guns. That was because spells weren’t always usable in close quarters.

It had taken longer to dress than she’d expected. Now it was time to go. They’d all be gathered waiting for her and any other stragglers. As she headed down to the group, she could already hear voices raised in excitement. When the group came into view, she saw there was at least fifty people. That was a big group.

Pru and Herk were in the middle counting off people. Julio and Janel were on the edge of the group. She joined them as they made sure everyone expected was present. Pru looked over at her as Jespers stepped over to his brother.

Looks like we’re all present now. We’re running down the new leader, Ferdinand Rio. A picture is being passed around. Anyone with him is fair game to capture. Only kill or injure if necessary. Got it? Pru asked.

    Got it! Everyone chorused.

Once the picture made it back to Pru, they flashed away. They were on a mountain with a primitive rock village below. It looked like a village that had been long abandoned was now being used once more by criminals. From what she could see
