That is one of the things that makes writing such a joy. Knowing that it makes her reader's day a little brighter. Not that she doesn't read sad books sometimes. While still in school, she read Where the Red Fern Grows and cried like a baby. It was a wonderful book and sometimes a bit of sadness has to be put in books because that's part of life. While she reads all kinds of books at some time or another, PNR and SFR, which she writes is what she reads the most for pleasure.When she started writing, she decided on going Indie after the first two books because an author has more control. She believes Indie will compete well and continues to grow. The need to give pleasure to her readers keeps her going and she sees a long career ahead. Growing up mostly in the NW Arkansas area, it has given her a good place to set some stories and many of her characters come from there or nearby SW Missouri.The start of her stories is the easy part. Prologue

They’d been here a short while. Where was here? This was the front line for the war that had broken out in the supernatural world. There was no end in sight, but there was hope that the battles were turning. Hope was a fragile thing, but it was needed immensely. At least it seemed the matings were on the rise. Or at least they were here on the side of good here near where most of the battles were taking place.

He was certain he and Diamond had been set up. Yes, there was a purpose to them being here, but someone wanted them mated and had for a long time. Who? Everyone in both their families. The question was who had set them up like this now and did he even care who? This had finally moved his cause forward and while Diamond hid from him whenever she could, she had nevertheless agreed to date him like the humans did.

Tonight, he would begin his plan by having her come to his room where he’d had the cook fix an amazing meal and he’d arranged to have the latest movie available for them to watch. He knocked on her door ready to hunt her down if she wasn’t inside. Once he had her in his grasp, he planned to escort her to his room where he would begin to wear her down and show her why she should be his and no one else’s.

Imagine his surprise when she opened the door and stood there. Diamond? I’m here to pick you up for our date.

What can we possibly do that doesn’t require leaving the castle? She asked.

She put her hand on it and he began to lead them down the hall. His room wasn’t far from hers. It was like someone had helped him, a secret cupid at work to see that those fated were brought together. Was it lady luck finally on his side or the goddess of love taking pity on him and finally giving him a chance at what was his?

Chapter 1

Love is in the Air

She placed her hand on his arm letting him lead her wherever he planned to go. As dull as this place was when they weren’t fighting, almost anything would be entertaining. Cam was creative so she had high expectations and hoped he wouldn’t let her down since she was taking a chance on completely falling for him. Yes, she had fallen in a bit, but she was still holding back, and she was sure he was as well.

Their history was such that smart people, who they both were, would be careful. Still, excitement rushed through her. He led her to his suite, and she wondered what was in there. As the door was opened, she saw a romantic meal set up. The roses were red tipped with white. A candle was lit in the center of the table. A wonderful set of china was on the table and the food smelled amazing.

This was a great start to a perfect evening. It looked like Cam was following human customs to make tonight exciting. He helped her get in her seat before he lifted the lid off her plate. When he sat, he lifted the lid off his own plate. I remember you love Cordon Bleu, wild rice, and asparagus.

I do and this is marvelous. She admitted having already tasted everything. This was so romantic, and it was only the start.

They spoke of times long past when they were young. You remember when you used to follow me and Ram around? Cam asked.

You can’t hold that against me! I was very young. She pointed out.

I don’t hold that against you, Sweetheart. You were the most adorable little thing I’d ever seen. We could have gotten away from you, but we went slower so you could keep up. Neither of us wanted you to get hurt or lost.

I always wondered why you two never escaped from me. She grinned as she remembered feeling a sense of accomplishment in keeping up with them.

Now you know. He replied.

Her childhood had been wild as she’d roamed their island and swam in the ocean often following Ram and Cam wherever they went. Once she’d gotten older, she’d had female friends that was until Cam had started dating those that had matured before she had. She pushed those unhappy thoughts away. It would be hard to deal with those unhappy memories.

What she needed to decide was if she would let jealousy and anger over the past ruin their future. She was stuck here for a while so she would take her time to decide. Meanwhile she would enjoy her time here and let Cam woo her. If she allowed it, this could be the best time of her life. Cam would show her a good time and they could indulge in each other and see where it could lead.

What do you have planned for after we eat? She asked since their plates were almost empty.

I’ll admit we have some limitations since leaving the castle has to be done under the strictest of rules. Tonight, I thought we’d watch a movie while we eat dessert.

She could admit that sounded nice. What’s for dessert?

You’ll have to wait and see. Why don’t you pick which movie you’d like to see while I get the dessert and bring it to you? Cam asked.

I can do that. She said then she moved to the TV where several movies were stacked. I got one. Holding up an action movie she waved it at him.

And I’ve got dessert.

Wow, chocolate cheesecake. Who did you bribe to get this?

The cook. She’s a sweet older lady who loves romance.

I bet she is.

Don’t be that way. She’s a sweetie and she made this for you.

Okay. It’s worth it for this cheesecake. She took another bite and moaned with delight.

Cam took a bite now and grinned. You’re right. This is amazing.

She took the remote and started the movie. Cam sat next to her sliding his arm round her and pulling her closer as the movie progressed. It felt good to have him so close, so she just leaned in and relaxed. It seemed moments later he was waking her up.

The movie is over. Let me escort you back to your room. Tomorrow, we have a mission, and we must get up early. Cam observed.

She nodded then got up as she followed him to the door. It was disappointing that he’d not even tried to seduce her. Once they stood in front of her door, he leaned in and gave her a heated kiss. I’ll see you in the morning. He said before he walked away.

Her dreams would be hot tonight. They would run through all the sexy things they could have done but didn’t. What was he trying to prove anyway? Didn’t he want her? She would admit she wanted him. A hot shower and a little self-help later saw her ready for bed. Maybe things would look better come morning.

Sitting next to Gertie, she was picking at her food and feeling listless. Is it Cam? Gertie asked.

What do you mean? She asked.

We all recognize the signs of male trouble. No point in denying it to us. Or maybe you’re denying it to yourself? Gertie asked.

Honestly, I don’t know what to do about him. We had a date last night and he didn’t even try to seduce me.
