A New Friend

After the incident with Quadrant Alex laid low for a month or two while still visiting the city to check on Sarah and Kate. After a few close calls with almost being seen by Kate’s neighbors she bought a phone for Alex for he could call sometime instead of always visiting the city. Kate put her and Sarah’s numbers in the phone and Alex call them from time to time to check on them and on occasion invited the three, including Sarah’s kid, over to the cave for dinner to treat them to something. Despite Alex only being alive with flesh and all for only a month he knew how to cook food really well even though David would be helping him sometimes but Alex didn’t feel like telling them that.

Alex went to David Jr’s birthdays bringing gifts that he made back in the lab. Most of the gifts were small little gadgets which Sarah was fine with but declined one of the gifts when Alex brought a tamed creelatops as a gift. Creelatops were small herbivores about the size of a fox and looked like miniature versions of pandas. They were adorable little animals but are a very protective species and when threatened they make a screel that disorients the threat while also becoming very vicious popping out claws and fangs and attack the threat. Alex made a deal with Sarah though and he would keep the creelatops, which David Jr named Hog, and when they would come over and visit David Jr and Hog could play.

With the agreement everyone was happy and Alex made a little bed and food bowl for Hog and took her out on hunts for she wouldn’t be cooped up all the time. Six years after the whole situation with Quadrant Alex was doing fine along with Sarah, Kate, and David who was now eleven. Alex was taking Hog out for a walk talking with David.

It’s so nice when life is going so good right, David? Alex said putting his arms behind his head while walking.

From my experiences though it usually doesn’t last long.

Come on show some happiness. Your daughters are doing fucking great and your grandson is too. Hell, Kate found a new job at another security place and Sarah got a promotion at her law firm.

I know but still every time life is going good for me something or someone comes in and makes it less good.

Who the hell would be coming in and doing that though. No one knows about us besides those three and Quadrant seems scared to do anything against us and haven’t tried anything new with the serum.

Well they might of decided it cost to much to make another wolf creature since we’re still around.

Whatever the reason Quadrant is leaving us alone and doing their regular work and we are doing good.

Alex finished the walk with Hog and the two headed back to the cave. Hog ran ahead going through his special door Alex made for her while he cut down the prey he had hanging to let it bleed out. Alex finished cutting the rest of his food down and brought them all inside to cut them up and freeze them. While he was cutting up the meat he had the TV on watching the news to see what was happening with the city and more. There was nothing much to interest him really except for one piece of news that a cure for the rhino turned people had been terminated.

The companies looking for a cure stopped since they couldn’t make any progress and when David went missing it damaged the progress even more. Alex finished what he was doing and went to the lab getting out some equipment.

You sure about this David because if we do this and it works then people are going to wondering how this happened.

I know but with what happened to me and my family I forgot about helping those people.

I’ll do this and then we’ll go and test this bad boy on a live subject.

Alex got a syringe and needle putting it into his arm pulling out some blood. With the blood Alex and David examined it for some time and put the blood into another injector to try it on a live subject. With Alex running to the holding area of the turned people it took him a hour to get there. Alex looked around to see if anyone was here overhearing that Quadrant was tasked with getting rid of the people. Quadrant was going to bring in heavy equipment including piloted mechs and heavy drills to.

As soon as the search for the cure was stopped Quadrant was hired by the government to take care of them since they couldn’t let them into the wild. Alex broke away from the conversation and climbed the walls of the containment area and hopped down right in front of one of the creatures. Inside the area were young ones as all since they could reproduce still. David had Alex look for a older one since the younger and new ones wouldn’t be able to be turned into a person since they at that point the human part was most likely gone. Older rhinos had the longest horns at fifteen feet long making it easier for Alex to find.

Alex found a perfect older one with it being able to fully charge at full speed. Alex picked up the beast and slammed it on its side pinning it down and pulling up part of it outer skin that was tough. Sticking the injector into the soft skin and he pressed the button injecting it with Alex’s blood. A few moments later the beast went crazy and started running into the wall before it finally collapsed onto the floor. The body of the beast started to change leaving a naked man in its place. Alex quickly grabbed the man and left the area bringing him back to the cave.

Back at the cave Alex checked to see if the man was alive and when he confirmed he was alive he took some of his blood. Looking at the V6 that goes through the blood Alex found that the V6 did change but not the change to cure the man. The part that made him into a rhino creature was still there with slight changes to it. Either way though the man they had turn back into a human they would
