    Life Drops - Patricia Harris

    Anxiety

    IF YOU COULD,

    Please tell me,

    what exactly is

    Normalcy?

    Everything I do

Just to try and fit in.

And still it feels I will

    Never win.

    Chaos surrounding

    weirdness abounding.

    Too strange to be

    Like the world around me.

    Must fight to adhere

    Show no signs

    Of queer.

    Bury the shame,

    Act just the same,

    Else you won’t be

    Allowed near.

    someone did you know

    LOOKING THROUGH A LIST

    Of people I might know,

    Wishing I could see

    People from so long ago.

    Friends whose ties

    Tug occasionally.

    Family who’ve died,

    leaving me bereaved.

    Such a painful thought

    A memory,

    Leaving me wishing you

    Were sitting here,

    still beside me.

    Stories I find myself

    wanting to tell,

    Each one its own

    Exquisite hell.

    Seeing so many

    That I do not know,

    With no way of reaching

    Those left behind...

    A quick twist

    Of both heart and

    Of the mind...

    QUIET MORNING,

    Coffee is on.

    Children sleeping,

    Well past dawn.

    Warm embraces,

    Reminding of simpler

    Pleasures.

    Love and romances

    Sweetly growing from

    Quiet morning moments.

    Rare affection

    Pulling us into the day,

    chasing all darkness

    Out and a way.

    Locked in a cage,

    Covered with rage.

    Each step forward

    A struggle in the futile,

    Confirming limits unbelievable.

    Going through motions,

    Perpetuating the farce.

    Knowledge of futility

    Only pushing the fight.

    Too stubborn to yet

    Even consider the idea
