    Holidays

    AROUND THE TABLE

    Family gathers,

    Seeking sustenance

    And emotional reminders

    Of where the origins of

    Personality began.

    Gratitude a theme,

    Gluttony, a race

    To see which person

    Can eat the most plates.

    Hostilities on hold,

    Awkward moments

    Our guest,

    As holiday gatherings

    Bring on the stress.     

    Sealing internally

    Temptations to scream!

    Raging against

    External forces that

    Strip control from the civilized

    Soul struggling to exert

    Even a minor control

    Dubiously over it all.

    Overall wishing

    Under the

    Guise of sanity

    That life would

    just once be easy.

    Cold

    In the embrace

    Of frost's affections,

    Feeling the shivers deeply.

    Nose glowing crimson,

    Furnace not cutting the empty

    Open dreary of the day.

    Sunshine bright

    With no warm in the light,

    Grass crackling each step

    With ice and
