A Tasty Turkish Breakfast
Chapter one – Ambrosial Breakfast
Introduction
The people who like spices and want to salt it up have suckuk cooked on a pan with eggs. Suckuk is a dry sausage that is made of ground beef and has variety of spices added to it like red pepper, cumin and sumac. It could be a bit spicy for some people but no wonder that it is awfully delicious.
Here are some recipes for the Turkish breakfast that are easy to make and can fulfill your cravings to the fullest:
Iskender Kebab
Serves: 4
Ingredients:
2 pieces of beef tenderloin (about 200 g each), sliced into sheets
200 g of ground beef
4 pieces of Pita bread, cut into halves or quarters
Salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste
GarnisH:
1 cup of fresh yogurt
1 cup canned crushed tomatoes
2 tablespoons of unsalted butter
Directions:
In a mixing bowl, add in ground beef and season with salt and freshly ground black pepper. Mix it thoroughly, knead and form it into rounds. Place the ground beef mixture on top of the first tenderloin and cover with the other one.
Tightly cover with a plastic wrap and transfer into the fridge, freeze overnight. Remove the ground beef mixture from the fridge, thaw for 1 hour before the cooking procedure. Slice meat into thick rounds, and heat a pan with medium heat. Melt 1 tablespoon of unsalted butter in the pan and fry the meat slices until golden brown. Transfer meat slices on a flat dish, set it aside.
In the same pan over medium heat, melt in the remaining
