INTRODUCTION
Don’t you just hate it when after a really long day with a newborn baby and a toddler, you sink down on the couch to just… well… BE… for a minute; and the baby starts crying again?
Are you at the end of your rope coping with a very colicky baby that screams at you for hours on end? Has it been so long since you’ve had a good night’s sleep that you would give your right arm to just lie in silence for an hour—heck, even for just ten minutes? Let’s be honest here—you’d probably be okay with getting just one full minute of peace and quiet!
I hear you. I’ve been there… where you feel like Alice wondering just how far down the rabbit hole goes. Or feeling like you’re at the very bottom of that hole already! I clawed my way out of that damn hole… and it’s my mission to share my journey with other mom’s going through the same thing. If even one thing I share helps you… I’ll consider that a win.
This book has been written so that whatever information you need the most, you can find easily and immediately. I am confident that the techniques that we call SMOOTCH, will work for all babies and mommies, but you can pick and choose which ones apply best to your situation.
I experienced a total physical and emotional breakdown after 6 months of severe colic with my daughter. After much research and trial and error, my mom and I found ways to stop Kait’s crying, and we found things that helped me cope with the fatigue, stress and depression.
And I want to share our experience and solutions with you.
Not only will I share what we did to get Kait to stop crying, but I’ll share some of my own story on the private hell I was going through; the depression, the fatigue, the all-out exhaustion. And how I got out of it.
This book is intended as a guide for you and your baby to work your way through baby’s fussing and crying spells. Every baby has individual preferences, and you will find that certain things work better than others. I encourage you to keep track of your journey and what works best for your baby. Write it down and post it on the fridge.
This information is a resource that family and friends can use when they are helping you with your baby. They can simply read what to do and what works best, instead of you trying to explain it over and over again.
You know what that means? That the second help walks through the door you can just stagger to your bedroom and sleep instead of spending 30 minutes trying to tell them how to help you!
And, I’m going to be really honest here… this book is written straight from my heart and straight from the gut, so to speak. I’m going to be brutally honest in
