LONG BEFORE YOU fall pregnant, you should carefully plan your diet. Your first aim should be to achieve your ideal body weight, since being overweight and underweight plays a big role in your pregnancy, especially when it comes to your baby’s birth weight.
By the time you discover you have a bun in the oven, critical development has already happened. So, everything that you should be eating and avoiding during pregnancy is valid when you’re just dreaming about having a baby.
If you choose to follow these diet guidelines, you can lower the chances of your baby being born with birth defects, being born premature or having a low birth weight. You can even spare her developing chronic illnesses, such as high blood pressure and diabetes when you’re already a granny.
