About this ebook

Life has its way of dictating to us a direction that may not be best. The dictation comes from expexted participation in society and our experiences. The best life direction has to include Gods divine plan for our certainty of peace and happiness. Most do not see or realize Gods plan until a series of mistakes open doors to true reality.

Two such individuals experienced this life-changing direction at an unexpected time during the winter years of their lives. The prose within tells of this direction and their findings. Although not searching or seeking , lifes circumstances directed each of them on a path always desired, yet never attained until each stopped trying themselves, and allowed Gods true direction to lead.

This poetry will inspire the reader for years to come. Its reality of finding real love in the winter years of life is truly refreshing.

Martann

Martann is a pen name used by the writer to show a combined effort in the production of this book. The author is a counselor and pastor who has been very active in many arenas of life for the past thirty-five+ years. Having wide diversity in client history, experience has helped to lend to the incidents noted in this book of prose and verse. As with all things in this life, Martann is a conglomerate. Many facets of experience lend to the makeup of the intellect and personality of the final writings. As Martann would say, “Open your closed eyes to your life that has been, is being lived now, and that which will come.” Each phase brings a beautiful array of experiences, memories, and wishes that will last you in this lifetime. Martann enjoys God’s creation of people. Each person has a unique makeup shaped by life’s situations and circumstances. The way Martann sees it, we often allow our experiences to dictate and at times encumber the correct choices that God intended for each one to make, in order to enjoy this wonderful world that was made for us. So stop a moment and reflect on your life as you read these wonderful stories of life experiences, experienced and shared by Martann. Experiences of love, successes, encumbrances and releases, freedoms and mental imprisonments—and perhaps you as well will find and do what God purposed for you the rest of your lifetime. Choose well, after much thought!

    The Awakening

Life experiences have a way of opening our eyes. Often we are blinded by our own self-made expectations, expectations dictated by what we feel is the norm.

But all things that are reproved are made manifest by the light: for whatsoever doth make manifest is light. Wherefore he saith, Awake thou that sleepest, and arise from the dead, and Christ shall give thee light. See then that ye walk circumspectly, not as fools, but as wise (Ephesians 5:13–15, KJV).

    The Man

I went to my garden, dear friend, best lover!

    breathed the sweet fragrance.

I ate the fruit and honey,

I drank the nectar and wine.

    Celebrate with me, friends!

Raise your glasses—To life! To love!

    The Woman

I was sound asleep, but in my dreams I was wide awake.

Oh, listen! It’s the sound of my lover knocking, calling!

    The Man

"Let me in, dear companion, dearest friend,

    My dove, consummate lover!

I’m soaked with the dampness of the night

Drenched with dew, shivering and cold."

    The Woman

"But I’m in my nightgown—do you expect me to get dressed?

I’m bathed and in bed—do you want me to get dirty?"

    —Song of Solomon 5:1–3 (MSG)

    What Is Wrong with Me?

What is wrong with me, I ask?

For I have never felt quite like this before.

The Longing, the missing, the wanting,

    What is wrong with me?

I feel nervous, yet anxious, yet queasy,

    What is wrong with me?

Is it possible that real love feels this way?

I have missed just one day of conversation,

    Just one day of talk,

I have missed two days of sight, and it feels an eternity,

    What is wrong with me?

What has become the norm has been interrupted.

What has been desired and anticipated is not.

    What is wrong with me?

I want, I need, and I desire the touch.

My mind beckons for the presence.

My heart yearns for the closeness.

To feel the beat of your heart from your hug.

To taste the sweetness of your lips from your kiss.

To smell the fragrance of your warmth from your soft skin.

To see the beauty of your smiling eyes when we meet.

What is wrong with me, I ask?

Sitting, waiting, anticipating, and needing, yet not to be.

Today I have seen reminders of you everywhere.

I think you are in every visible image before me.

    What is wrong with
