Brushfyre: A Rebellious Nation
()
About this ebook
Dreaming of you, my secret beloved.
Its not your hearts affection but your mind that I covet.
Are you a blessing or a curse in disguise?
Are these feelings true, or am I living a lie?
In a diverse collection of poems fifteen years in the making, Robbie Pullman shares a poignant journey into his imagination, heart, and mind as he reflects on such relatable themes as personal growth, love, inspiration, and daily struggles.
As Pullman lyrically walks through his life and experiences, he explores the unknown and the truths it holds, the longing that accompanies a love unfounded, the cruel realities and imperfections of life, the aches of an elderly man, and the thoughts of a fallen angel abandoned by her lover.
Brushfyre: A Rebellious Nation shares one mans poetic and spiritual journey through life as he loves, learns, and listens to his heart.

Brushfyre - Robert Francis Michael Pullman
Life in a Box (Amended Mind)
I believe that everything you perceive is a delusion
In which you choose to hide.
So, as the sweat trickles down your back,
Try not to have a heart attack
As you’re staring down the barrel into my eyes.
Though now I’m blind in my third eye,
I can still see through these other two just fine.
I tried to wait and bide my time,
Experiment and mend my mind.
And with time everything will be just fine.
And with time we can amend our minds.
My life in this box may seem redundant in spots.
Overall I’m content as this boat gently rocks.
The kindest thing I could do
Would be to throw a line out to you.
But instead of hope, I tell you the news:
We’ve been conditioned to run and hide.
It’s time to stand up and sacrifice.
Take these monsters that you’ve made; tear them to pieces; watch them blow away.
Though now you’re blind in my third eye,
I can still see through these other two just fine.
I had to wait and bide my time,
Experiment, expand my mind.
And with time everything will be just fine.
And with time we can mend our minds.
Whenever You Are with Me
Well, I woke up today feeling like crap,
So I rolled out of bed and lit a cigarette. Oh, woe.
It’s getting to me that every day is the same as the one before, but hey, I know
It’s just the way she goes.
Oh, woe.
Won’t you stay close, please? ’Cause whenever you’re with me,
I don’t feel so lonely.
Oh, woe. I know I made a promise. And when you did, you were being honest.
But now we both know
How far we can go.
Well, there’s people who care that look out for me, but I spend my time alone, mostly alone,
Never on my own.
I take the pills to make my pain go away,
But it’s not getting any better. But hey, I know it’s just the way she rolls.
Can’t figure out how to fix my head.
It’s been broke so long the warranty’s worth shit.
Oh no.
And I’ve got no return.
Oh, woe.
Won’t you stay close, please? ’Cause whenever you’re with me,
I don’t feel so lonely.
Oh, woe. I know I made a promise. And when you did you were being honest.
But now we both know
How far we can go.
And they all say,
Please don’t go, oh.
I don’t want to be here on my own …
Even if It Takes a Lifetime
Act of Cultivation
I might not know
where I’m going,
but I sure as hell
know where
I’m coming from …
And soon I can
reap what I’ve sown.
But if I want
my crops to grow,
I need some rain to come.
Well, I know
there’s a path for me,
and I know
that if I plant some seeds,
they’ll grow
into something larger than life.
But they’ll need rain to survive.
Well, there’s no need
for hesitation
while engaging
in the act
of cultivation.
Plant some seeds;
they start to grow.
Treat them with love;
you’ll reap what you sow.
Well, I know;
it’s plain to see.
And I know
that you’ll laugh at me.
But watch, they will grow
into something larger than life,
even if it takes a lifetime.
Aimless Ponderings of
a Wandering Ape
Walking down life’s road,
I contemplate, I ponder,
what tomorrow will bring.
Will it be good or bad?
I do this as I aimlessly wander.
Nothing else to do. I’ve got some
time on my hands.
Walking down life’s road
out in the cold,
thinking of the unknown
and the truths it holds.
I wish I knew all the secrets
of the ages.
Think of all the things I’d know,
the knowledge I’d have,
all the wisdom of the mystics
and the sages.
But if this came to be,
I’d probably go mad.
Terrors unfold,
and the madness grows.
Horrors untold
shouldn’t have been so bold.
Some things are best left unknown,
lost torn pages of books and tomes.
Sometimes this lost knowledge
can save us,
force open our minds
and make us think on our own,
Make one think for oneself.
Don’t horde your wealth.
Help those in need.
Don’t succumb to greed.
I’m glad that I sorted out this mystery
