About this ebook

Things change all the time, after all.

Welcome to my book! This is a collection of poems on events that have occurred between 2019 and mid-2023. There was, to my great surprise, a lot of change in my life during this timeframe. However, things have also changed a lot in general from how they were in the past.

As a result, you will probably come to notice that at least some of the poems contradict each other—but that’s just what happens when things change—and I changed with them. I admit, part of me is tempted to disclose the topics of the poems within this book, but that would spoil the mystery of it all, wouldn’t it?

Although all of the poems in this book share my personal thoughts, feelings, and experiences, I am honoured if you find comfort in any of the poems.

I hope you enjoy the book and I sincerely thank you for reading it.

    Contradictions

    We’ve all been in situations we didn’t want, or think we’d be in.

    And if you’re anything like me,

    You’ve probably written poems about them.

    Reading my poetry,

    I notice it’s full of contradictions—

    I know that many of my future poems,

    Will probably also contradict each other.

    But isn’t that the point?

    Isn’t life full of contradictions?

    Don’t we all develop in some way?

    Contradictions are likely to occur,

    But that’s okay.

    42 (After the Hitchhiker’s Guide to

    the Galaxy by Douglas Adams)

    Deep Thought was created with a single purpose:

    Find an answer to life, the universe, and everything.

    After seven and-a-half million years,

    The answer he comes up with

    Is 42.

    Maybe Deep Thought was right:

    Maybe we don’t understand the meaning of 42,

    ’Cause we don’t really know the question we’re asking.

    Deep Thought predicted that earthlings would understand this,

    And yet, we’re all still trying to figure out the meaning of life.

    Of existence. Of everything.

    But maybe we don’t need to.

    Maybe we’re just lucky;

    Maybe out of an infinite number of possibilities,

    We somehow ended up on this floating space rock.

    Maybe it was something else entirely,

    Or nothing in particular.

    Who knows?

    Regardless of anything, I’m grateful for it.

    Deep Thought’s answer to the meaning of life, the universe,and everything,

    Is 42.

    He said we don’t know what this means,

    Because we don’t understand the question we’re asking. Then again,

    Maybe we don’t need to.

    Illusion (After Discourse on the

    Method by René Descartes and The

    Matrix)

    If this world’s an illusion,

    Let me live in it;

    For if this is really nothing,

    At least I exist somewhere.

    At least that is something.

    If this world’s an illusion,

    Let me trust my thoughts;

    For if I exist somewhere,

    Even if my senses deceive me,

    Even if this world is not what I thought it to be,

    I’m conscious of my thoughts,

    Of my consciousness in general.

    And in my consciousness, I must trust;

    If I didn’t, I think I should rust.

    For if I cannot believe in this,

    And
