As far as I know, your value increases because you know what it feels like to be at the bottom of that pit trying to get out.  Life throws bricks at us sometimes, and depression may come because of this. However, when you go through all the exercises in the book, you find that you get very good at ducking those bricks and remaining strong and happy. Going through depression isn't a bad thing at all because it makes you more compassionate toward others and more understanding to have you as a friend.

  

You will also learn what it feels like when you do eventually escape the grasps of your depression and find the happiness that lies at the other side of it. Believe it or not, it will happen and when it does, it will have been your efforts that will have gained you the status of being a happy person. That's a huge investment of your time and your energy and something that you should be very proud of indeed.

What I suggest you do now is flip back through the pages and take notes so that you can perform the different exercises suggested for each day and keep a calendar, so that you know what you need to do. It's going to be a rough ride, but at the end of it, you will feel happier in yourself and happier with the company that you keep. Over the course of this book, we have looked at so many different approaches to your depression that even that will be a little bit daunting.

As I write this, I look across the room at a picture of a young girl who was once as depressed as you were when you started to read this book. This young girl is now a grown woman with children of her own, but is a woman who learned from me what it takes to get beyond depression. Over the years we have become very good friends and I admire her for the happiness she now spreads to both friends and family alike. I know that you will be doing the same thing too and your feedback on this book may just help someone else to find their way toward their personal happiness too.
