The pressure cooker employs high speed of cooking thereby saving so much time.

    1. It saves energy. The pressure cooker is highly efficient — it uses far less energy than many other appliances, since it cooks so quickly and leverages the pressure powers of steam.  Letting the cooker cool naturally is the best way to save on energy.

    2. Pressure cooking is the contemporary method of cooking that retains over 90 % of the nutrients thereby yielding the healthiest meals.

    3. The food retains its original flavor in a sealed environment giving it a rich and flavorful taste.

    4. You don’t need to bother yourself about spills over because is done in a sealed pot.  There won’t be any. No steamy heat. No odor.

    6. It doesn’t take up space. Its multi-task capability makes it unnecessary to keep redundant appliances in the kitchen space.

    8. It is easily washable and dishwasher safe.

How Does A Pressure Cooker Work?

A pressure cooker works on a simple principle of steam pressure in a sealed pot. As the pot heats up, the liquid inside forms steam which builds up pressure in the pot. Pressure cooker raises the boiling point of the water in the pot. When cooking something like a stew or steamed vegetables, the heat of your cooking is limited to the boiling point of water (212°F). But with the steam's pressure the temperature can get as high as 250°F. This higher heat helps the food (dry grain) to cook faster. Steam is much hotter than boiling water, which puts 10-12 pounds on food per square in making it to cook superfast.

The high pressure also helps force liquid and moisture into the food quickly, accelerating the cooking and drastically reducing the conventional cook time. This helps tough meat, gets very tender very quickly. Unlike conventional cooking, the sealed environment of a pressure cooker makes the food deeply flavorful.

This is on the lid of your electric pressure cooker. It takes the cooker some time to build up pressure enough to kick-start the pressure cooking process. The pressure indicator shows when your electric pressure cooker has reached the correct pressure level or when pressure has dropped.

    Pressure Release Valve

The pressure release valve is located on the lid of your electric pressure cooker. By pressing, turning, or lifting this valve, you will release the pressure from your electric pressure cooker after you are done cooking. You should proceed cautiously when releasing pressure manually, less you should burn yourself.

    Silicone Sealing Ring

The silicone sealing ring (also known as gasket ring) can be found inside the lid of your pressure cooker.

This ring creates an air-tight seal that will not let any steam to evaporate when you are cooking.

    Trivet and Steam Basket

Some electric pressure cookers have a trivet included and perhaps a steam basket, so that certain foods will be unable to stick to the bottom.
