About this ebook

This is Geraldine's last mission on Earth, and her most difficult one. Sister, Helena, is trying to organise her 50th celebrations but without success as she upset her family by stealing her daughter's boyfriend. Geraldine comes along and tells her not to give up and say to the family 'Birds of a feather flock together'. Curious, they visit Helena, and finding out that she has also been visited by Geraldine, they help her with the party and getting her reconciled with her estranged husband, David. Geraldine suggests to Helena to relive the good times her and David had by going to the theatre and cinema. They go but David is still unsure of Helena, leaving Helena confused what to do. Then she finds out that David has had an accident at home and needs help. So goes and does his cleaning, singing at the same time so he can realise what he is missing. Her birthday party arrives. She sings with sister, Dorothy, who she is now reconciled with, just as David arrives, as she planned. It works as after the party at home, David proposes again.

Back in Heaven, Geraldine is finally reunited with own love, Keith, for her own happy ever after.

Birds Flock Together - Julie Day

Helena picked up the phone, sighing. She'd try Mandy next, but she didn’t hold out much hope.

When Mandy answered she said, Please, Mandy, I want you to come to my birthday celebration.

No, Mum. Not after what you did to me, Mandy replied.

Suit yourself. Helena slammed the phone down, the tears welling. Not even her own daughter wanted to celebrate her birthday. Oh, I give up, she sobbed. I'll celebrate by myself.

That's not like you, to be defeatist.

Helena looked around her. There was no one to be seen. Oh heck. Now she was hearing voices. It sounded uncannily like her dead sister speaking.

A bright purple flash lit up the room. A woman in a lavender jumper and black trousers was standing there, frowning at her.

Oh no! Now I'm seeing visions! Helena groaned.

What's this about giving up? Geraldine said. That's not like my little sister. What happened to that feisty woman I knew? Oh yes, I know. She separated from her husband, and had an affair with her daughter's boyfriend –  who I can't see any sign of here, by the way.

He left me for someone his own age. Helena bowed her head, hiding her face.

Good riddance to bad rubbish, I say. I didn’t know him, but someone who can cheat on his girlfriend with her mother is well rid of. So, I take it you're not getting far with those invites then?

Staring at the vision, Helena shook her head. No, it wasn't a figment of her imagination: Geraldine was here with her.

Why are you here, Geraldine? she asked, hardly believing that she was talking to a ghost.

Well, now that Mandy has found love and happiness again, I thought it was time to put the past behind us.

But Dolores and Mandy can't forget. They won't come to my fifthieth.

Right. You won’t know it, but I've become a dab hand at dealing with these situations. There’s usually a phrase which fits. So, here goes. I want you to do me a favour, and I won't take no for an answer. Raise that head of yours. I can't see you.

Helena smiled at that, lifting her head.

There, I've got you smiling already. That's better. I can see those wonderful green eyes now.

It is you, Geraldine! I know you're dead, and I'm seeing your ghost, but it's so good to have that bossy big sis of mine back. What do you want me to do?

Phone Mandy and the others again. Geraldine put a hand up, preventing Helena from speaking.  Listen to me. Phone them again, and tell them I am sending a message to them. Say to them, ‘Birds of a feather flock together.’ I can guarantee that as soon as they hear you have seen me, they will listen. They may even visit you for an explanation. Will you do that for me?

Reluctantly, Helena nodded. One question, she said.

    Go on.

Do I take it they had problems and you helped them put them right?

Yes. Geraldine beamed at her. I'm sure if they let me help them, so can you.

OK. I will do as you say.

    "Good. I will be back
