This eBook aims to offer some helpful advice for people struggling with insecurity in a relationship by inviting the reader to evaluate the roots of their insecurities and then follow some simple steps to help overcome them. Read on to learn more about how you can tackle your own insecurities and work towards a happier, stronger relationship with your partner.
Chapter 1 – Evaluation
Introduction
There are many reasons that a person might feel insecure in his or her relationship and the absolute priority for anybody wishing to overcome these feelings is to first identify the reason he or she feels insecure.
As feelings of insecurity are subjective, it can be difficult to assess the true cause of these emotions. However, broadly speaking, the causes of feelings of insecurity arise from two main roots.
The first is an internal root, which one might refer to as ‘personal demons’. Are you a person who has always suffered from feelings of worthlessness and self-doubt? Have you been cheated on before? Do you worry that you are not an attractive, interesting or successful person?
Personal demons can haunt relationships and the insecurities which arise from our own feelings about ourselves can be projected onto our partner. Feelings of insecurity that come from our own personal emotions and histories can often be dealt with by changing the way we feel about ourselves.
The second main root of insecurity is an external cause. Is your partner verbally abusive? Does your partner act suspiciously? Do you struggle to communicate? When an insecurity is caused by an outside cause then the key to resolving it is to address the cause directly, to open up lines of communication and to evaluate the value of the relationship as a
