Future Poet

Future Poet is the author of Level Up (2017) and Future Poet’s Whispers Of Real Desire Shared (2009). Prior to self-publishing, Future Poet wrote personalised poetry on request by bringing emotions into words to give as a gift to loved ones for special occasions. This was when her talent was really noticed by other people and this is a service she still provides today. Spoken Word Performances 2002- 2011 Future Poet's first spoken word performance was in Canada, in 2002. From 2008 onwards she has done subsequent performances in the UK at Angela Edgar's `Inspired’ book launch and charitable organisations such as TWO WEEKS, Communities Against Guns & Knives, AJAMU, United Haitians in the United Kingdom and Teenage Cancer. Publications Future Poet self-published her first book in February 2009 and entitled it Future Poet's Whispers Of Real Desire Share. This book is influenced and inspired by Future Poet's journey through life and the visions she has captured from society. Other poets, novelists, motivational speakers and musicians also play their part in her writings. Level Up is Future Poet’s second published book. This is a short book of quotes and affirmations that relate to our everyday lives. It was designed to not only to motivate and inspire but to express in words those emotions that cause confusion within. Talks in Schools In 2012 Future Poet spoke to a Year 3 class in Chapel End Junior School, (London, UK) about poetry. The class she spoke to subsequently used specific poems in her book a number times when having discussions about poetry and its meaning. In October 2015, in honour of Black History Month, Future Poet spoke to a Year 1 class in Chapel End Infants School about Black inventors and poetry. She combined the two subjects very well and held the attention of the young minds she was speaking to. She discussed the everyday things that were invented by Black people and the things they would like to invent. She also discussed how poetry is used to express all types of feelings and how the nursery rhymes that were sung to them as babies are also considered poems.
