About this ebook

The Royal Family was all but dead. Garth, Turck, Snaid, Maddock, and Rafe Metathis, the Undisclosed Ones, now ruled her people. The humans called them gargoyles. Well, that's what everyone thought, except for Marci, the one true heir to the throne that everyone thought was dead. With the curse on her family, she would not risk exposing herself to the Undisclosed Ones, even if they were her true mates. Could they truly rule together? She already knew they controlled her passion and her heart.

Garth and his brothers sensed the danger that surrounded their woman, but the Metathis brothers knew they could protect her. The passion and the heat that came from her was the only thing that calmed the ranging animal in each of them.

Together they come together on Halloween, in the ancient ruins, her old stomping grounds, to claim their mate and finally destroy those that would take their woman from them. But would the old curses rise up and destroy them?

    Chapter One

Marci moved through the old home of Christopher Lerado, once head of the Northern Vampire Clan, but now truly dead. Only two people knew she roamed the ancient tunnels, Allie and Whitney and right now both of them were distracting Whitney’s mates and friends so she could hide again. It had been close, too close for her. Garth and his brothers knew she was near, but couldn’t find her. She wasn’t ready for them to find her, yet. Maybe someday she would have the courage to face her mates, but not today.

The air was damp, the old cement walls were cool to the touch and the dirt floor all reminded her of the ruins she used to play in in Mexico, so long ago as a child. Marci could still remember the old bathhouse six floors beneath the Mayan ruins, her favorite place to escape from the royal hubbub of society. Of course, her mother would always find her, calling her, my little fish.

She smiled, feeling a pain in her heart so deep Marci didn’t know if it would ever heal. I’ll find them Momma. They’ll pay for hurting us.

You okay, honey? Allie asked, appearing next to her. Marci jumped and grabbed her chest. Damn girl, don’t do that to me! She took a deep breath and moved to the tunnel where she and Allie had a room. I’m fine. Thanks for asking. I was just remembering.

Allie nodded, moved to the door and opened it. You know Whitney might be right about the part that’s coming up. It might be a good time to search for those that killed your mom. Allie plopped down on the bed and stared at her.

It’s been so long, Allie, since I’ve been there, and if I go, you know I’m going to have to deal with Garth and his brothers. Then am I ready to reveal all, Allie? Marci let the magic disappear and walked to the small window in the tower that overlooked the courtyard.

Garth stood by the fountain looking up at the sky, alone. I know you’re here, mon amour, and I’ll wait for however long I have to. His words were a whisper, but she heard them all the same through the small hole in the window. His long black hair blew in the wind, he wore no shirt and the muscles rippled across his chest as he walked around the fountain. The tight black leather pants outlined his body perfectly.

Allie stepped up to the window and nodded to him. He’s gorgeous, Marci. How can you not want to go to him? Don’t you think he would help you find the ones who hurt you and your family?

I know he would, all of them would, but the problem isn’t him, it’s me. I don’t know if I’m ready to face that kind of life again, always looking over your shoulder, wondering who is going to try and kill you next. I can still see my father always checking and securing the area before I was allowed to play. I don’t want my children to live in fear, I want what we had with Whitney’s parents.

Her friend hugged her, and she sighed. I know what you mean, but maybe with that legend coming true about Frank, things could be different. Don’t you think you owe it to yourself and to them? Go talk to him, alone. His brothers left with Frank to track someone down.

Marci glanced down at fabric of the black summer dress she wore, and sighed. I’ll talk to him, but Allie, I’m not ready. Marci covered the tattoo on her face and quietly made her way down to the courtyard through the small tunnel, careful Garth wouldn’t know from where she had come.

She moved around to the other side of the fountain. The moon was full and bright. It’s not you or your brothers Garth, it’s me. I’m not ready, but soon. Marci stepped out into the moonlight and he turned his dark gaze upon her and scanned her from head to toe.

You’re scared; I can smell it from here. We won’t hurt you Marci; we only want to love you. He carefully moved toward her, afraid she would flee.

The night is beautiful, isn’t it? I didn’t think this old home would be so interesting. It reminds me of my home long ago when I was a child. She changed the subject and strolled up to the fountain, sitting on the edge and running her hand in the cool water.

I used to play in this old bath house when I was small. My mom always called me her little fish, because I hated to get out of the water. He moved, sitting down in front of her.

You don’t look like a fish, but I bet your mother loved watching her little princess play. He reached up and brushed a piece of her hair away from her face.

Marci glanced up at him, the words he said were to close to the truth. Why would you use those words? His scent was masculine: woodsy, and spice wrapped around her and Marci knew it was only a matter of time before she allowed their claim.

Garth took her hand and kissed her knuckles. Doesn’t every mother call their daughter, princess? Why are you so afraid of us?

She laughed and leaned forward. Think much of yourself, dear Sir? I’m not afraid of you. I’m leery of the situation itself, Garth. Marci pulled away from him and stood, moving towards the high gate staring out at the city below.

You and your brothers are important to our people, whom I knew nothing about until recently. Sure I remember bits and pieces from when I was a child, but things have changed. Do I even want to go back into that world and risk being hurt again by it when I have a new family?

    His scent reached her
