Chapter One
Gage Hunter stared at the small, curvy bundle in the bed. His woman, so innocent and trusting, slept, but even in her sleep, she had been restless.
In his arms, she had moved around, whimpering in her sleep. Gage studied her round face, seeing the dark circles there, knowing they needed to get back home. She wouldn’t rest well until she was out of Ohio.
The night before, he had taken her on the tour of the hotel, gambling, watching a show, but that hadn’t lasted long.
As promised, Gage hadn’t pushed his woman for sex the night before but knew her body was ready for him. Gage realized his need to possess the woman in his bed, and it wasn’t just an alpha thing either. Never before had a single female driven him crazy as this pint-sized one had.
He glanced out the window at the city of Cleveland while adjusting his cock in his shorts he had worn for her comfort. But soon, there would be no clothes between them.
First on the agenda, Gage had to deal with the threat to her life that was still out there with this stalker. Already, his enforcer had intercepted two threating messages to his mate since arriving there. Each one had made him so furious he had to excuse himself, hoping that she hadn’t noticed the anger.
One great thing about staying in a hotel owned by his kind was that there would always be a gym away from the outer world just for their kind to release the stress.
No, they wouldn’t be staying in Ohio long. Just enough to make sure this threat was taken care of, packing her belongings before they went home, and to make sure both of her children was secure.
He wanted her to have that clean break, and Gage was bound and determined to make sure nothing threating followed them home.
Her small, warm body pressed up against him, her arms coming around him as she rested her head on his back. Morning. You are up early, and here I thought I was an early riser. How are you?
I’ve been waiting for a sleepyhead to wake up so I could do this,
he growled. Gage turned around, bending her backward, covering her mouth with his.
Their tongues dancing like that of the morning dew as it twines itself around each blade of grass. She trembled in his arms, her arms coming up and around his neck, holding on. Her little moans while he explored drove him crazy. Memorizing her taste, scent, and body, Gage couldn’t get enough of her. Showing his woman what it was to be loved, possessed.
Slowly, he lifted his head, staring at her swollen lips and her half-closed eyes. With every sunrise, I will thank the great mother for such a perfect gift. You, my little wolf, make my heart sing and my soul whole. Thank, you,
he said, nipping her bottom lip before lifting her up, holding her tight in a fierce hug. She was his world now.
Go hop in the shower, baby, your daughter and son are going to meet us for breakfast,
Gage said, going to push her away when everything in him stilled. Some kind of explosives were close, the smell.
Not taking any chances, Gage pulled her down onto the floor on the side of the bed, pulling the mattress over on top of them, just as something close exploded. Gage growled, feeling the debris falling onto the mattress on top of them. Don’t move or say a word, Raven.
Alpha!
his enforcer yelled.
Gage lifted off of her, scooting out from under the mattress, taking in the room, growling, before meeting Jared’s gaze.
How many?
Gage asked, jumping up, throwing the bed off his woman and lifting her up into his arms. I’m going to carry you to the bathroom. Get dressed; looks like we’re going...
A howl filled the hallway as the hotel owner, Stu, came storming in, half beast and half human. He scanned the room before meeting Gage’s eyes. I’m sorry. Please, take your woman to the suite up top. It’s my own personal suite when I have family come, believe me, no one will get in. I owe you both, and I will personally find out who did this.
Stu turned as a man came running in holding out a key to him.
"The room is already stocked and filled. We will
