Tess Dawson closed the Psychology textbook that had been keeping her company for the last three hours as she prepared for her midterm, pausing only for a quick thirty-minute break for some pizza rolls and to finish a rerun of Gilmore Girls that she had on the TiVo. Her grades were usually pretty good and she was a Psych major, but for some reason she had been having a tough time the past couple of weeks really focusing on her school work and she had allowed herself to get way behind on her reading assignments. So the past few nights she had been a very good girl and reeled in all of the boring self-discipline she could muster to hit the books, and she found she was actually doing very well at shutting out the entire world and getting a lot of work done. It was starting to feel pretty good and she was actually reawakening the energy that had drawn her to the field of Psychology to begin with. Looks like she had chosen the perfect major.

Tess had discovered a love of Psychology in high school, especially Criminal Psychology, after reading a book called Without Conscience. This was a ground breaking book about the behaviors and thoughts of Psychopathic criminals, and even more disturbing, psychopathic non criminals, that most of us encountered on a daily basis without ever realizing just how close we were to these people.
