There is something about this police detective job of mine that doesn't want me to give up easily despite the fact that I have a better second choice. I found that special something the night I showed up at her place; Amy is that special something. She is the woman of my dream- plus size, curvy and super-beautiful. The first time I set my eyes on her, I changed plans. If Amy finds out that I am a detective, and I have been sent to her to an investigation, she won't allow me to make her mine. Innocent Amy - Amy Thompson

    CHAPTER 1

    Amy

It is a Saturday morning. Mark and I have decided to take care of our new house today. We moved in just last night, and we never noticed the dust that is settled on almost everything in the house. I decide to handle the kitchen, while Mark handles his new room and mine. I’ve been sneezing since I started the cleaning. My brother and I have never been separated since our parents died. Dad died when I was six, and Mark was three. He died in a car accident. As for our mother, she tried to remain single after Dad’s death, but she couldn’t stand the loneliness any longer. She was twenty-two when she got married to her second husband, Dr. Clark. Dr. Clark doesn’t love us at all, and I doubt if he loves our mother either. Our mother died fifteen years after her marriage to Clark. That didn’t go so well on us. She left us with Dr. Clark, our sworn enemy. I couldn't finish studying dentistry in the University- Dr. Clark told us that he couldn’t afford to send us to school. Mark and I worked hard to feed ourselves and to take online courses. Our stepfather, Dr. Clark, is one of the richest doctors in the world, but because he is our sworn enemy, he just wouldn’t send us to school.

Curvy Amy, look what I found, Mark says, holding a dusty magazine in his hand.

He always calls me Curvy Amy. I’m Curvy, and I know it. Besides being a plus-size lady, I’m also curvy and beautiful. While my mom was alive, she always told me that my curves would sweep a man off his feet. So every day, I look in the mirror and remind myself of how beautiful I am.

What’s that? I move closer to him to take a good look at the magazine. He hands it over to me, and I can see Dentistry Foyer written boldly on the front page.

I wanted to throw it into the trash, but it may be of help to you, Mark says, running his fingers through his hair.

Yeah, thank you, little bro, I reply, flipping through the pages of the magazine. I just can’t wait to go through it fully when I’m done with the cleaning.

I look up to see my brother shaking his head. Curvy Amy, how long do you want to keep calling me your little bro? I am twenty-three now.

I let out a smile and place the magazine properly on the cleaned cabinet. As long as you stop calling me Curvy Amy, but for now, I don’t think I want to do away with that pet name of yours.

Mark places his hands on my shoulders and says, Curvy Amy, you’re beautiful, and I’m sure your man is gonna like it big. As I turn to give him a smack on the back, he runs back to the room to continue the cleaning.

He has just said the truth- my man is gonna like it big, but I’ve never seen a man that likes me, or maybe we’re still very far from each other. Back when I was twelve, my classmates would laugh at me because of my size. I would return home crying and refusing to go to school the next day, but my mom would remind me of how beautiful I am and how the skinny ones in the class were jealous of me. I stopped thinking about my size after Mom’s death. I’m sexy, and I know it.

After a long cleaning, Mark and I decide to go check out our new environment - it’s so cool. Unlike our former environment, this place is so peaceful and full of nature. When we told our step-father that we would soon be leaving his house, he didn’t say anything. He only gave us fifty dollars and promised to send us more after a month. Since our mother’s death, Dr. Clark never brought in another woman; the only love of his life is his career. Dr. Clark is the kind of man that you would stay with if you need to stay with a zombie. He seldom talked to us in the house.

I pull my car to a stop in the station's parking lot and rush to the office. Earlier, I was with my mother when I received a call from my workplace. I don’t know why I have to be at work when I’m supposed to be on break, but I do know that it is important. I’ve been working as a police detective for over ten years, and I’ve solved several cases. Being a police detective was always my late father’s wish: one can say I’m a detective because my father wanted me to be. He died a year ago, and I possess every legal right to take over his company, but my mom is in charge of the company now because I told her to manage it on my behalf. I have no reason for taking over yet. Being a detective is fun, and I know there’s something about it that wants me to stay longer. My colleagues- Rose, Bryan, and Lucky are the first I meet as I enter. The three are my friends- Bryan and Lucky are the same age as I am, while Rose is much younger.

Hey, Lyon, Rose greets as I enter.

Thank God you’re here, Lucky says.

You have any idea why I’m being sent for? I ask Rose. My friends tell me things I need to know before time.

This time, we know nothing. The boss has not told us anything yet. I guess he is waiting for you before he lets it out, Lucky says.

We should get going, Bryan says as he leads us to the detective chief superintendent’s office.

"You’re welcome, Detective Lyon. I know you should be resting now, but there
