About this ebook

Life in the Living Room is a chronology of the author’s background as a single mother, now a grandmother and a brief recap of her experience with online writing. This eBook contains helpful advice for all mothers and anyone who wants to get away from feeling stuck by their circumstances. It contains important life information needed to help make your dreams a reality and for living in the present.

Many single mothers give up their own life interests and futures in favor of taking good care of their children. When life problems forced this author to spend over a decade living with her adult children and other friends, it was time to reassess what to do to improve her future. When disability prevented her from taking on a regular job, online writing was one answer that provided the income she needed. This is a success story, with an end yet to be determined. The main purpose of this eBook is to provide encouragement and direction to others who may be in a similar situation.

PART ONE - Life in the Living Room – Grandma on Call

Never in my younger years did I ever anticipate spending my late 50s and most of my 60s as a travelling gypsy, without a home of my own. Since I sold my home over 12 years ago, I have lived with both of my children and another friend, on and off, for months to years at a time.

Don’t get me wrong – for the past 38 years, I have been the best super Mom possible, especially after getting divorced when my son was about 7 and daughter about 4. I wanted them to have as normal a life as possible, but without the confusion of getting thrown into a blended family situation. I wanted them to have all the normal stuff I did and to grow up street-wise, so they could make it in this world.

We lived with my own mother until she died, when my oldest child was about 16 and youngest 12. I had to work, and as happens to many other single mothers, there had been little or no child support paid by their father. Without all that help from my own mother, our life would have been very different, very
