About this ebook
When we dream of what our lives can hold, we should always dream with open eyes. We should always be aware of the pitfalls before us but, more importantly, we should open our eyes to the dangers that exist should we lack the courage to pursue our dreams. Once we understand our options, we’ll be better suited to do what we need to do to find happiness in our lives.
Dreaming With Open Eyes is Ken La Salle’s third collection of essays from the pages of Recovering the Self. As he shares his journey in the pursuit of his dreams, he spotlights the dangers and opportunities in the journey ahead of all of us.
Only when we open our eyes can we see the truth of our lives. Dreaming With Open Eyes shows us just what riches our dreams and our lives can hold.

Introduction
Do you want to amaze people? I mean, do you really want to blow them away? Then, follow your dreams.
I ain’t kidding, either. Just look at some of the most fascinating people in history. Men like Martin Luther King Jr. and Mahatma Gandhi changed the world without firing a single shot. Florence Nightingale, driven by a passion to help those who were suffering, started out as a nurse and ended up changing how we approached medicine. And then, there are those people like Aristotle and Rachel Carson, Mozart and Marie Curie, Walt Disney and Helen Keller, and so many more.
All of these are people just like yourself, people who dreamed of what they would do with their lives, people who were afraid at one time or another of making a mistake. Everyone who follows their dream changes the world, even if it’s only just a little bit. You don’t have to be a world leader or famous star; just the act of following your dream changes how those around you see the world. You can inspire everyone around you. Even if you fail, you can inspire others to try. The first step is to follow your dreams.
I’m not going to kid you. It won’t be easy. In fact, it’ll probably be the most difficult thing you ever do. Following a dream takes guts. It takes nerve. It takes all of the energy you have, the support of friends and family, every cent you can scrape together, and time. Dreams often take a lot of time.
Then, after all of that, you can still fail.
That’s why you want to make sure that you go in to your dream with both eyes open.
That’s why I have called this book Dreaming With Open Eyes.
There’s a lot you should keep your eyes open for: failures, disasters, distractions, opportunities, and a lot of surprises.
But here’s the most important reason you should always keep your eyes open. You should always be aware of what you’re doing and what you’re not doing. Life can take two paths. The person who doesn’t follow their dream could end up with a steady job or a comfortable life
