Author, wife, lover, and amputee. I have been missing my left leg for years. Growing up I felt that it should not be there, and it is has been a blessing to have it gone. Today's term for this condition is BIID and in the past simply referred to as being a 'wannabe'. I am a full-time crutch user. Like my husband, I find amputees fascinating. 'Devotee' is the frequently used term. My stories have characters that mirror my life in some manner - wanted/needed to be an amputee or want to live with an amputee. I make no apology for my descriptions of these people and there is no intent to take away from the suffering of some amputees. I love feedback on the stories, but I cannot promise to reply.

    Chapter 1 - Campsite

Twigs broke, there was some rustling of leaves, as Victoria made her way back to the camp from the river. She was camping alone to celebrate her fortieth birthday. The day was warm, and a bead of sweat had formed on her forehead. She wiped at it with her right hand before remembering the amputation. She laughed aloud then used the left hand.

Attractive, she turned the heads of many men, and even women. Average height, slender, with nice curves, Victoria was not ashamed of her appearance. She even wore short sleeve blouses leaving the stump exposed. It ended just above the elbow. The end was softly shaped with a slight dimple along the scar.

The embers were still hot as she tossed a few small pieces of wood on them. Soon, they caught and the flames shot up. She removed the blouse and dropped it on the log where she sat. The lone hand found a naked breast to play with. It felt nice. She loved her body and enjoyed playing here and there. The feeling was not much different from when she was a girl.

Opening the cooler, she pulled out a burger patty and dropped it in the heated skillet. She listened to it sizzle for a moment then began preparing the bun. She nibbled on a few potato chips. Missing a hand, part of an arm - however, it was referred to - forced changes in her life. She had been right-handed so that was one of the major changes.

A hiker wandered along the trail near Victoria’s campsite. She loudly apologized and continued before turning back. I’m lost, the woman said. She must have just noticed Victoria’s lack of a shirt or blouse because she let out a gasp then stepped back into a bush.

Victoria pulled her blouse back on without buttoning, then went to check on the woman.
