About this ebook

Mohini was stunned to read that letter. She looked at the dead body of her little sister. She put her arms around it and pulled it towards her. She began to shout and cry so loudly that several women from the neighborhood entered their house. “How am I going to spend this life now? Brother went first. Then my mother and then father left me. Now you have left me, Seema. This is not fair!”

Time, with its rapid progression, continues to take us towards the unknown, however, it keeps us amused by providing us the glimpses of the past which we have experienced.

Life had passed so quickly that she could hardly realize that everything had changed. The other day she was planting flowers. He wanted to ask her why she was planting flowers at this age. He wanted to put his hand on her head, but he resisted. He was her husband, but she was only the mother of his children from his first wife.

She had looked at her husband’s face, as if trying to say, When the age was right had you ever tried to plant a tree? Had you ever tried to give me a flower? The questions were trying to struggle out of her mouth but she stopped. She recalled how much she liked flowers in her hair.

He had smiled and said, Why are you staring at me? Don’t you want to go? Everything should be done according to one’s age.

She left the dressing table and stood up. Fifty two years of life had passed without any perfumed breeze. It was a long journey.

She recalled that her brother Vikas was the centre of attraction for the family. He was their hope and future. He was in the final year of B. Sc. Being a highly talented student, his success in competitive exams was guaranteed. Her brother, Vikas, had passed all the competitive exams with flying colors. Their father would be proud to see his results.

For all that, Vikas was not able to find a good job. Had he found a good job, all their problems would have been solved.

Mohini, the eldest daughter, was equally intelligent and talented, but she was not given the same
