Why am I here? Kori asked herself for the 1000th time that evening as she glanced around the large room. She was huddled in a dark corner, sitting on a couch, and trying not to feel completely awkward. These were not her type of people. Loud, boisterous, free spirited, as well as rich, spoiled and selfish, most of the people in the room were almost the exact opposite of her. She was quiet, observant, and a tiny bit uptight sometimes. And she was as far from rich as one could be. Yet, she found herself amongst them, and not for the first time. She scanned the room again, her eyes coming to rest on the very reason she was there. She had come because CJ had begged her to join them.

He was perhaps the most handsome man she had ever laid eyes on. He made her shiver with pleasure every time she even glimpsed him, and when he spoke to her, she thought she might shake to pieces. He was excessively tall in her opinion, towering over her at 6’5. He was in great shape, and he took pains to show it off whenever the weather was nice. Tonight, however, he wore a simple white tee-shirt that was almost too small for him, and which seemed to make the emerald color of his eyes leap out and grab her attention. She found herself getting lost in those eyes whenever he glanced at her. His bluish-black hair was messy, almost as if he hadn’t bothered to brush it before greeting his guests, but somehow suited him perfectly. She felt a desperate urge to leap from her seat and run her fingers through it but resisted. She was far too shy for that. Most of the time, it was hard enough for her to find the courage to speak to him let alone do anything else. Not that he would mind any sort of move from her, of that she was certain.
