The bowl in my hand, slippery with soap, came flying free of my fingers as a loud knock sounded at my front door. It disappeared back beneath the sea of bubbles, and I let out a deep sigh. Wiping my wet hands on the edges of my shirt, I glanced down at my outfit and frowned. Dressed in an old, white over-sized shirt that was soaked with water and seemed nearly transparent in places, and a pair of very short shorts, I wasn't exactly dressed for company. I considered ignoring the knocks and going back to the dishes, but before I could make up my mind, I heard the door opening. Startled to find that my sister had left it unlocked when she'd left for work, I glanced toward the set of chief's knives displayed to my right.

Gracie, you here? a familiar voice called, and I relaxed, the tension oozing out of my body. I knew who it was instantly. I had heard that voice far too many times over the last month or so to mistake it. The voice belonged to Tucker, my sister's latest boy-toy. She had been going through men like most people changed underwear since her extremely messy, nasty divorce six months before. And unfortunately for me, I was witness to it all. As soon as it had been finalized, she had changed jobs, changed cities, and come to live with me. I hadn't cared when she had asked, especially since I had thought it would be a very temporary thing. But six months later and an endless parade of men waltzing in and out of my home had stretched my patience a little thin.
